The Landmaster section in the videos also seems to have the best surroundings. The visuals on the other sections are alarmingly archaic and not in a way that has any sense of style. It doesn't look deliberate.
Although even in the Landmaster section, something seems really off with the perspective. It's like every element is separate rather than existing in 3D space. It's possible that's something to do with the motion control - maybe it looks fine on the WiiU controller rather than staring at a static screen on YouTube?

I've had it since launch so as good as a handful of its games are I've tapped them out. Mario Kart 8 will get some more playtime and I've picked up Smash again so it should be a solid last few months if I hold on to try out potentially Yoshi, Devil's and Starfox but my time with it is definitely coming to an end. I get a definite vibe that I prefer the WiiU to the Wii which despite it's popularity and catalogue offered very little that I'd be willing to call great but it's looking safe to say for me it's delivered less fun than I got from the other Nintendo gens.

You guys are nuts, Wii U is a great console, to date my Wii U has bought me:
Bayonetta 2
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD
Mario Kart 8
NES Remix 1 + 2
New Super Luigi U
New Super Mario Bros. U
Nintendo Land
Pikmin 3
Splatoon
Super Mario 3D World
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
Short of a Street Fighter, Animal Crossing, Rhythm Tengoku and HD Super Mario Galaxy that’s probably my perfect line-up and it doesn’t even include all the amazing VC titles I’ve had out of it.
SNES > Wii U > NES > N64 > Gamecube > Wii - I’d rank Wii U that highly.

Purely from personal POV my post.
I enjoyed Bayonetta 2, Zelda WW HD and Pikmin 3 but all three either were or felt to me like HD remasters of previous releases.
Luigi U and Captain Toad were fun but really just DLC on a disc.
The Kirby and NSMB series as a whole leaves me cold as did Nintendoland. DKC was an improvement on DKC 4 but Retro have never captured the Rare style magic of the original trilogy for me, I'd have gotten more from them making a Prime 4.
Splatoon proved itself as a good game and Smash and Mario 3D World were format highs but not as high as predecessing entries for me. Mario Kart 8 was the only true ball out the park title for WiiU for me. Excelled all over.
It's nothing particularly negative towards the machine or its line up really, the whole thing was 'good'. But there were more peaks and certainly more classics with the NES, Snes, N64 and even Cube for my tastes.
Mario Kart 8 showed the talent is still in there, I hope NX teases it out of them again. Their best recieved game this gen was their most traditional, that should tell them something.

Bayonetta 2 Not a fan.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker Is fun.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Nothing special. Preferred the first.
Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush Horrible controls. Why play a HD game where you don't look at the TV?
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD Port.
Mario Kart 8 Great game.
NES Remix 1 + 2 Mini games.
New Super Luigi U Another platformer
New Super Mario Bros. U Another platformer
Nintendo Land Mini games.
Pikmin 3 Not my thing
Splatoon Seems great but not fussed.
Super Mario 3D World Simple amazing.
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U I hate this series

Not a lot for me sadly. Those games aren't devoid of quality but most don't feel special or are mini games. The Wii U is the worst Nintendo system for me. Too many games in primary colours. Too many games with similar feel, too many platform games.

Nintendo Land is also a caveat. Yeah, if I was in a room with one of you guys we'd play Street Fighter or Outrun 2 or something but with my friends and family Nintendo Land was the best local multiplayer game I ever played until Mario Kart 8 came along, it's just so easy to get into but deep and requires skill (unlike Wii Sports/Mario Party stuff), me and my young cousin completed co-op Metroid and Zelda in it and it was the most fun I've had in a room with another human being and a games console.
They're great games, I just think you guys are perhaps too core/skilled gamers for certain things like these but I'm not a weirdo, just part of a different audience. I mean I'd rather have my teeth pulled than play Skyrim or COD but I accept they're good at what they are even if that's something that's not for me.Last edited by Pikate; 18-06-2015, 19:18.

You will need the storage space for MK8 DLC and title updates but not much else. (8GB is insufficient for MK8 DLC alone)

I was going to look into doing it this weekend, though that involves getting the Wii out of storage. Is it complex/long?
Like if it'll take 3 or 4 hours I might just rebuy the 2-3 games we want to keep.
