This morning my daughter picked up Super Mario 3D World for her WiiU.
last year I played her copy Super Mario 3D Land on her 3DS and was absolutely blown away, it was by far one of the best games I'd played since the 16 bit era.
So I went into 3D World with very high expectations and TBH I'm a little disappointed, we only played the first couple of worlds this morning but it's not grabbing me like 3D Land did, maybe it'll pick up.

I searched this forum section and tried to find an old 3D World thread to post in and couldn't find one.

Friendly Import video game discussion forum, informative reviews, NTSC (Japan / US) and PAL - BordersDown (previously known as NTSC-uk)

Super Mario 3D World is one of the best Wii U games, IMO.

Isn't as mind-bendingly magic as Super Mario Galaxy though.

I think it's biggest plus is also its biggest minus, the fact that is Super Mario 3D Land - but on the Wii U - but with multiplayer. Your results may vary when you play with two or more players, TBH.

Reduced my Twilight Princess HD pre-order to the standard version seeing as how the extra "dungeon" isn't really a dungeon but a challenge area / survival mode.

Still in two minds about picking this up myself. Struggling to justify it, especially when it appears that they've done no more than a bare-bones, minimum 720p & 30fps remaster.

It's a pity. I nearly bought it on the basis of the new dungeon but if it's barely that I wont bother.

I've played it more, 2 player with my daughter, we're up to about level 5 now.
It is a good game, but IMO not as good as 3D Land, in fact it shows how special a game 3D Land is.

BTW are you also Digi.k on the PCFX forums? you have different user names but similar avatars.

I think land is a tighter experience, just because it's always single-player. That being said, I found World in multiplayer more fun simply because I love multiplayer in general.

So...my WiiU is my go-to console right now mainly due to Xenoblade Chronicles X, but also Youtube on there lets me play all my movies from Google Play, which my PS4 won't. And there's Netflix obviously.

Have to admit I gave up on Xenoblade after 45 minutes, and haven't come back to it months later. Just not my thing, and I found it very opaque and user-unfriendly, TBH.

Was thinking about getting the Twilight Princess remake to have something to play. Been 9 years since I played the original, so it will be nice to play it again, and this time without all the muddy, blurry graphics. But then… I don't have any particular memories of the game as such, so it can't have left a positive lasting impression on me that Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker certainly have.

It's actually like Monster Hunter in that if you don't put in a good few hours it won't click.
But MH is better overall anyway.

We have barely a game a month coming...But I've still not played the games I got for the console over the last 3 years anyway.

Meh... Good for you. I haven't turned on my Wii U in a few months after trying out Xenoblade. It was a fun game but didn't get into it... Maybe I will or just sell it on. Most Wii U games I've gotten (which isn't many) in the past few years have been misses for me; Mario Maker (not even a game), Smash Bros., Xenoblade. What a shame...

I've not played my Wii U much this year either, but only because I was busy playing Divinity: Original Sin and Bloodborne GOTY Edition. But that will change next week when Twilight Princess HD is released, and I'll probably pick up Xenoblade after that, and I can't go too long without a quick spin on Bayonetta, Mario Kart 8, or The Wonderful 101.

I barely played that, to be honest. I like the idea of it, but there wasn't anything much to play there after a few in-built levels. I'd have loved it if as a kid, before my brain was drained of all creative spark by adulthood, but for a worn-out creativity-free guy like me, there's nothing much there to do.

Still think it's objectively one of the best things on the Wii U, though.

I've enjoyed making and playing others' levels on SMM. I'd love a 3DS version so I could play on the go as well.
