What like the Lunars lol or Drive Club . It comes down to taste . Never liked any of the GT games , ace graphics but that's it imo . Always saw Codemasters has making the best racers on the PS with TOCA series and the jaw dropping CM II and when it came to a sim, Geoff was king I back in the day .

Drive Club. Ace weather and that's it.

Why is my name in the title? [emoji1]

we need more destructible environments i think mercenaries 2 was pretty good but i loved the destruction in otogi 1 and 2 infact to find all the secrets you had to destroy everything

I do love the irony of certain games that you have a weapon that can reduce a massive tank to scrap but you need to find a key to open a wooden door.

got to say i really wish they would move away from making the graphics shinier like more effects better textures etc and increasing the interaction with the game worlds and expanding them

I came back in here thinking we could vote on how disillusioned with gaming nakamura has become. Can we get a poll set up or only when the thread is created?

I play games a lot less than before but my tastes are more varied, now. In the past I'd never have touched a puzzler or some of the indie games I've since laid my hands on so that's good I think. I wonder if I'm trying to chase that spark. Like becoming kinkier and more sexually adventurous but with greatly reduced stamina.

34 - Started with the Zx spectrum which came with 5 tape pack.. i think is was Treasure Island, Space Invaders, Oh! Mummy from what i remember. 1st console with my own money was the Dreamcast, which before working was a long period of rentals for megadrive/psx/n64 and OPSM demo disc's... man that Doom demo lasted me forever, and those net yaroze games.

Nowerday's i can say been years seen i've been hyped for a game release and i fear for the kids growing up with F2Pmoba's, minecraft and mobile games will kill off what's left of the games i enjoy. I really miss when MMO's use to be about working together rather than a solo-experience, i miss japanese wrestling games, manuals in disc boxes, game controllers that would last more than 3 months before degrading, Mean Machines, local co-op (cos why bother moving when you can party chat from your own house), making an effort to play different games but now you can't even be arsed to change the disc in the drive as its to much hassle, with the loading, and patches....

I think that last game that gave me unending joy and challenge was Dragons DogmaA, just so much random and insane touches they added to that game, it really is a proper adventure game not weighed down by focus groups or western attitudes to DLC. FLY INTO FREEEEEE.

Saw a twitter post of someone who had made a.realistic nature scene in unreal engine 4. Yeah, great. The mastery shown by artists reached an incredible level years ago. That's not the problem.

It was probably Evil Boris sniping/being funny. I can never tell.

Feel free to set up a pill though! I'd be interested to see the choices ![emoji1]

I remember a bit in the Last of Us (I didn't like that game) where you could see where you wanted to go. Instead of walking over/through/around a bush the characters went through the sewers for no reason whatsoever. It was really dumb. Now many games handle their funnelling and limitations much better than that but I can see the difficulties in having environments that work like real environments. It would become incredibly difficult to make the player stick to the path that actually has the gameplay in it. Then we would invariably go off track and find somewhere that doesn't work or has a forced barrier and it would break immersion.

It would seem to be less of a technical challenge these days and more of a game design challenge. That's not to say it can't be done or shouldn't be aimed for but I can see the difficulty.

Artificial intelligence. If npcs had it then the gameplay would be wherever you are. Not saying it's easy to do. The investment is all in graphics sadly.
