Well it was my first time at its most difficult setting...

Still, I may give it a look but that game didn't quite click with me for some reason.
Trust me dude, you haven't seen rhythm action games until you play Frequency and Amplitude. Frequency, at least, had such a brilliant learning curve, it weans you bit by bit onto the harder songs. You get stuck, you keep trying, and eventually you nail it. It's so addictive and so fun, and you will honestly regret it if you don't look into them now.

I'd say learn the ropes on Frequency first, then move on to Amplitude.

Yeah, I'm struggling with the faster songs on insane, but I can totally cane the slower ones.

I've been improving little by little at the faster insane tracks for 6 months now... which is an indication of the quality of the game - I haven't given up yet

        2D Platformers

Shmups (because the amount of practice you input exactly translates to progress)

        Arcade racers

Adventure games - my fave genre from Where Time Stood Still on the Spectrum to Zelda: Ocarina of Time on the N64

I would say that I am very good at two games but the 2nd one I would definitely claim to be better than anyone else here...

          Super Street Fighter II Turbo/X
          Tetris DX

Also read up about my level 9 High 5 challenge here 3rd post down if you think you're hard enough on Tetris...

I dont excel at anything but I can pick up the general idea quick enough and then keep hammering at it until I`m respectable. I got very good at PGR and slowly I`m getting PGR 2. I`m not too bad at the pro ev`s, possibly due to my bizzarre formation. Still, I`m sure you all would thrash me, but I dont care...

I don't excel at any games really. I get to a certain level that I can say I'm 'alright' at them, but never truly godly at anything. You won't see me bothering any high score tables or going on any huge win streaks. I seem to have a bit of a knack with some sports games, but thats more down to having some sort of passing interest in the sport itself where it comes down to common sense rather than any degree of skill.

I've found it to be the other way around, with Amplitude being a lot more forgiving and easier to get into.

Frequency is the better overall game though, simply because it has the superior soundtrack and tighter structure. But I guess that depends on individual taste.

I'd agree that Amplitude is an easier game to start with, although I played Frequency first.

I also prefer Amplitude to Frequency, because of the various tweaks eg. flattened tube, full screen multi play, improved power ups, online play.

I hear you man. That's exactly the way I feel. The hexagonal tube itself is the primary thing that makes Frequency good, but what also makes it better than Amp are things like each section being exactly 8 bars long (4 'tracks' worth), every track starting at the beginning of each section rather than almost randomly throughout the song, and powerups being random, not placed. In Amplitude, I just hated the way that the different sections start at different times, and the fact that you had to go whizzing from right to left after each correct bit. *sigh*.

I'd say for me it's probably FPS' and most sports games. And all these Halo experts in here should hook up on xbconnect, I need my ass kicked

Probably best at 2D Platformers, fighters (SF2 Turbo mostly) and side scrolling beat 'em ups such as SoR2. Not to mention Hyper Olympics, I can beat all my mates on this and the technique also comes in handy for Mario Party.

Worst at definately has to be FPS'. I don't know what it is about them, but either when armed with a keyboard and mouse or a pad I absolutely suck at these.
