DPD driver didn't even try to deliver it to me and I got the "sorry we missed you" notification. Luckily, I got to pick it up not long after so I have it and even had a quick go!

First impressions are great, but it feels a bit uncomfortable on the forehead for me as there's no up and down adjustment for the visor part. You have to adjust where it rests on your forehead. For me it's pretty low, so I get pressure on the nose, or I can alleviate that by tightening the headset at the back, but that's trading one annoyance for another I think my hands are too big for the controllers too, the ring thing that surrounds them makes them feel like they want to twist away from how I would naturally hold it.

Gran Turismo doesn't use the PSVR2 controllers, it still uses the DualSense, which confused me at first. But it's a good thing! You get to still have a dpad so the menus won't be a pain and overall it's super chill just being able to look around and not have to faff about with your arms. Had to play around with audio settings a bit as during non VR mode I had all the tire squeals and engine noises turned down a bit so it didn't annoy, but in VR you might want that stuff back to normal levels for the immersion. Seeing other drivers in the rear view mirror is scary, and I became hyper aware of track elevation and slopes in VR compared to normal. I don't even notice slopes in normal really, but in VR it's surprising how drastic some of the corners and drops are.

Had to update RE7 and also download the VR DLC seperately (free) which was about 700mb IIRC, before it let me play. Bunch of pop ups at the beggining that tell you that VR mode is a completely seperate mode from normal mode, so it has seperate save files and trophies etc. If you planned on continuing a run, or using unlocks from previous non VR playthroughs, you can't. The level of interaction in just the tutorial alone is super cool! Every weapon reload is different. You gotta eject clips, insert new ones, cock your pistol, aim and fire. You can *chick chick* your shotgun between blasts, pull your sniper rifle bolts etc.

I read before that people were cutting off the controller straps as they thought they couldn't remove them. It does appear that way at first but give the connector a little extra twist to release the lock and they pop off just fine. FFS.

I got mine, all set up, just need to download Horizon. I was impressed by the clarity and the eye tracking. Not sure I like the controllers, it's difficult to work out their orientation with the headset on. The headset itself is comfy for me, but the plastic feels very cheap and thin on it, makes me wonder about the longevity of it. Compared to Index, they are worlds apart in this area.

SO?!? What's peoples opinions of this?

I've heard GT7 can make even veterans feel a bit sick. Dunno if there's some dodgy framerate or something.

It's astonishing how good that looks. Psvr had to make some compromises to get 120fps for VR. This just looks like the game 100% achieved in VR.
Thats a system seller right there.

My friend is sitting at home with his shiny new PS5, PSVR2 and steering wheel enjoying GT7. I’m waiting for games to download…

Honestly wish I didn’t get so sick within 30 seconds of VR so I could enjoy this but alas I’m physically incapable of enjoying it without puking so I’ll just have to read about all the fun unfortunately.

Smooth turning makes me feel crappy but snap turning fixes everything for me. I'm guessing you've played around with the settings and stuff? Sometimes wonder when people try a friends VR, that they don't really get enough time to tinker in the options to find what's good for them. There's usually a bunch of options for comfort.

You get used to it after a while, Just have lots of sessions and make them longer depending on how you feel. I`m fine with smooth locomotion and turning, I certainly wasn't when I first used VR.

Call of the mountain looks to be 80% padded out with climbing between the encounters.

Got setup and went straight to Rez. The new headset is a massive improvement over its predecessor. Far sharper and clearer with little sign of screen door effect and way less fringing on white edges unless it’s in the periphery of your vision. It’s right up there with any of the PC based headsets I’ve used. However the OLED panel really elevates it with great contrast range and clearer motion than LCD. I did spot a couple of instances pod what looked like re-projection which I didn’t expect in Rez which I fully expected to be native 120fps.
The setup process is very slick and only takes a few minutes. This is a vast improvement over the original PSVR and wouldn’t trouble younger users or their tech averse parents.
I found the headset comfortable for my playthrough of Rez but I’m undecided on the controllers which felt a little bit small for my hands but the button placement makes them easy to navigate by feel. The dinky thumb sticks are probably as small as they could practically be. Overall the controller is a much more natural fit for VR and the tracking seems accurate.
I’m using my regular B&W P3 headphones which weren’t a tight fit over the headband but sounded pretty decent. I did have to turn the volume to max though.
The right controller died at the end battle of Rez with the left a few minutes later so I haven’t been able to play anything else yet. They weren’t fully charged out of the box so I can’t comment on the battery life.
Upgrading to the PS5 / PSVR2 versions of Rez Infinite and Tetris Effect was £8.99 each. Although I now have two versions of those games on the consoles SSD.
Overall a very positive first impression.

Really quick to set up compared to the psvr one quick to put away when you have finished too, you really need to follow the guide to get it to fit right, as it felt really uncomfortable when i first put it on but id put it on wrong thankfully you can adjust the front of the headset backwards and forwards (theirs a button that slides out the front part out) and theirs a dial at the back to adjust the headband, so i got it feeling nice and comfy after a small setup . It really feels like where living in the future when you start scanning your room and it shows your surroundings and starts filling them in with polygons its a really slick interface i loves how it puts x, o, squares and triangles over the usable floor space and editing your play area was as simple as grabbing the edges and increasing or decreasing them. Eye tracking works brilliantly and is quick to set up where it asks you to look at points on the screen then shows you a circle to look at.

Horizon call of the mountain (full disclosure i got a free code for this off a friend at Sony) blew me away i love the world and the setting and Ive recently got the platinum on forbidden west, to see a Tallnecks at actual size is amazing, its all very cinematic and feels a bit like a really high tech theme park ride at times. The climbing works brilliantly and is really fun and the combat is great too, no issues aiming or pulling arrows off the back pack theirs hidden targets to find in the environments as your exploring as well as loads of stuff to interact with and mess about with. it really feels like a big budget game as it looks amazing really next gen and super high resolution with lovely textures and massive environments, Ive stopped many times to just to stare at the scenery waterfalls, distant mountains with massive machines its all really breathtaking. You can move via gesture or with the sticks i tried both and surprisingly the stick control didnt make me fee ill like it has in the past even after id been on for an hour.

This was a real comedown its a very ugly flat looking game with dull shooting gallery style gameplay, i really have to wonder how bad this looked on the Quest if this is the enhanced version as it was very unimpressive after Horizon.

This was quite a fun little thing to mess with reminded me a bit of job simulator as it falls into that goofy mess about with stuff type gameplay your in a classroom environment mixing chemicals and messing with all sorts of interactive stuff

Gonna play more later and pick up a few games form the store most likely that canoe game and Pistol whip.

The PSVR2 version is weird, looking at it. They seem to have upgraded it to use a much more realistic model, but on the Quest, it was very stylised. I'm not sure if it's better. It looked good; in many respects like a PS2/GameCube game but a good one.

Thing to bear in mind is that I'm not surprised you find it a bit dull. I really enjoyed it; however, the best word I'd use to describe it is "competent". The character animation is particularly impressive, I'll give it that (like the bartender character etc.) but the rest of the game is just a decent, competent FPS within stand-alone VR. Nothing else has really done that on Quest. It's not exceptional, but it's also not bad; like the shooting feels good, the tracking is good, the motion controlled puzzles feel good... Nothing is "bad". And I recognise that getting those elements right in VR is not something that comes for free; a lot of work has gone into making it just competent.

But on a console like the PS5 it's going to stack up quite negatively, because there's so much more to modern FPS than walking through areas and shooting people.
