It wouldn't surprise me if the OLED is no different given how indifferent Nintendo has been to quality control this gen. For Switch 2 I'd happily see them drop the Joycon aspect. It'd probably make it cheaper to produce and some of those savings could go into better build quality but I imagine Joycons will survive the transition.

Yeah, I'd second that while the JoyCons might be a "gimmick" (depending on how you define the word), I think the idea of them was fantastic. We use them for 2-player stuff frequently. We've used them to play Mario Kart 8 2-player on long train journeys, for example.

But build quality is the really disappointing thing. Nintendo, historically, have been very good at this, so they've really dropped the ball.

Anyone pick this up? Nintendo were advertising it on the news channel & the isometric artstyle instantly grabbed my attention as i love this style of pixel art it reminds me of that edge magazine cover from years ago. All you do is put stuff away and slowly fill up rooms as you move in, some stuff is mixed up so you'll have to figure out what room it belongs in or in the right area but i'm finding it really relaxing. Enjoying my time so far but i'm gonna guess this is a short game although there seems to be some puzzles in getting certain combinations of items in the right place as doing just the right thing will unlock secret stickers for that action. I can't imagine this will ever get a cart release so i ended up with digital as i'm not depriving myself of games on that principle a tiny bit pricy though at £18 however if it's doing something unique i'm prepared to take the hit i mean it's still pretty cheap. Wish the devs had included mouse support the game just screams for that control method.

Gonna play this one in short bursts to make it last longer.

Played a bit on GamePass last night. Nice and chill. The kitchen annoyed me though £18? OOF

Sometimes i have no idea what an item is so i have no idea where to place it however i like that the game will let the item flash to let you know it's not in the right spot or the right room so at least you have a chance. It is very theraputic though to play spending quite a bit of time just rearrangine the stuff once it's all unpacked for max aesthetics.

Oh wow, I love the art style of that and the idea of the gameplay. I might have to pick that up.

It's partially metal. The back has a much more cold matte feel to it, which is anti-fingerprint. It's a big improvement to the feel if you play in handheld mode.

I like that there's some secret challenges to do to prolong the game, that built in photo mode is going to be getting some use hehe.

Also spotted this one too called spectacular sparky, really wish this was physical but again i'll end up picking it up all the same. Adore the artstyle, it looks like a ton of fun. If i remember correctly this one is about £14 on eshop.

                  (edit)
Ended up buying it, my god it's fantastic. The voice acting is brilliant and they are all uk voices, laughed more than a few times so far in the back & forth between sparky & the various enemies. It's really well made, so slick & satisfying to play & damn hard too if you crank it up. It's like something super polished that would have appeared at the very end of the PS1 life cycle.

Super Mario 3D All-Stars has been updated to allow for the NSO N64 Controller to be used with SM64.

Just needs one more update for Wiimote & Nunchuk compatibility with SMG, I guess!

Approx 93m Switch hardware units sold worldwide. Surpassing the Wii looks inevitable.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has now officially surpassed Mario Kart Wii for lifetime global sales, 38m to 37m respectively.

                          1) I genuinely didn't know that MK8 sold that many copies on WiiU, and my WiiU came with the bloody game!

                          2) We're never gonna get Mario Kart 9, are we?

                          So quite literally double-dipping

Weird one that, right? I mean I knew it had sold well (MK always does) - but I would've expected it to sell pretty much 1:1 with the WiiU, and I didn't think Nintendo had sold 38m WiiUs!

I did a major double take on that, because how on earth could MK8 have sold 38 million copies on WiiU when the WiiU didn't shift anywhere near that many hardware units?

Double checked the link and it's 37 million copies sold of Mario Kart Wii - which 8 Deluxe has now surpassed that makes a lot more sense!

Out of interest I checked sales figures for the WiiU itself and the MK8 game for it. WiiU sold 13.56m units, Mario Kart 8 8.4 million.

Aaaah, okay, that makes a lot more sense. The Wii game was a huge moneyspinner; it was in the charts for literally years.

I put literally hundreds if not thousands of hours into the Wii version in local multiplayer. Not the best entry, and with truly terrible graphics, but it'll always be a fave for me. We always used the nunchucks though, not the waggle business (even though I know it's possible to get really good using it).

One thing I did like about the Wii game is how mercurial and basically unfair it was to try and three star the cups. It wasn't just a straightforward 'get first in every race' like in 8. No sir. You had to get first in every race but a wide and completely unspecified margin.

Totally infuriating but elating when you managed it.
