So there are Nintendo leaks doing the round this week. As always, take with a pinch of salt. I'll keep the discussion in the spoiler tag also:

    If it's real...

Some of these we already know about - Arceus, Kirby, Advance Wars, Mario & Rabbids 2, Splatoon 3, Bayonetta 3, BotW sequel, so we can cross those off the list.

    But so many rehashes!

I'm concerned that FE Echoes, Detective Pikachu and the Monolithsoft title (which I suspect is a Switch version of Xenoblade Chronicles X) are all just ports.

Not from this source but there's a persistent rumour of an Oracle of Ages/Seasons remake in the style of the recent Links Awakening; I guess that makes sense.

So that leaves Metroid Prime, which again, is a re-release, though I'm hoping it'll be more than just a port but a semi-remake.

New Donkey Kong will be great for the fans; I don't care for those games personally but people like them.

There's certainly some good stuff there, though I dunno; it doesn't really excite me.

I'll be astonished if Monolith Soft actually bother to port XCX to Switch.

Let's be real - the game sucked.

I've never played it. I heard it had some censorship drama? Didn't actually read what it was, because I wasn't invested in the franchise at that point.

But in fairness, I think whether or not it's considered good is one consideration, but it's more whether or not it will sell, and I suspect after the big successes of the other two on Switch, they might want to try and make some money out of it.

But it could be XC3. The company has had job postings which suggest it's working on a full, new game - though it did a lot of outsourcing work on BotW so that may have been to work on BotW2/Arceus.

I think XC3 is far more likely.

XCX would've long been ported to the Switch by now if Monolith Soft were bothered. The fact that they instead chose to reheat the original XC and make an expansion for XC2 says it all IMO.

I don't see a Switch port/ Switch userbase saving XCX, but we'll see.

It's not as good as the others but it's not bad. Also probably a major pain to redo the whole interface...the status screen would have been simply unreadable in handheld mode.
The censorship drama came mostly from the removed breats size slider in the EU/US release.

But...another port of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess?

Though this reminds me of the horrible job they did with the 3DS version of Xenoblade Chronicles - where they crammed all that UI onto the top screen, and the bottom screen was blank for the entire game (it just displayed a screensaver).

That doesn't bother me quite as much because I think we should accept this will be the way of things from now on. I mean that's why Sega recently remade Virtua Fighter 5 in the Yakuza engine; it's so they can re-release it forevermore.

I really hope this is true. I absolutely loved the Link's Awakening remake, and I've never actually played the Oracle games.

Haven't played that version, but XCX would have the opposite problem. I simply don't see a single-screen XCX working without a massive interface redesign.

I will always welcome more (full-form) Midna and Wind Waker needs all the love it can get, but you can't stop people from arguing about per-generation rereleases when there are no/minimal adjustments or additions.

Folks with two Switches: when starting games, I get a "Checking whether game software can be played" message. Should that happen on both consoles once you have a primary and secondary one, or should that only be on the secondary?

I may well be wrong but that list feels like pure BS. For it to be real Nintendo would have to start hammering out software releases and that doesn't even account for titles they are supposed to be announcing but not releasing yet like the Mario Kart 9 rumour.

I think end of year for BOTW2 is a fair bet but its release should pretty much hard lock that zero other Zelda titles old or new are getting a release.

2D Donkey Kong? If true I'd expect it to be Q1 2023. Monolith isn't getting anything released near Zelda. I don't think the Let's Go sequels will be this year either, it's too many Pokémon releases too close together and BOTW2 marketing will need some breathing room. Metroid Prime... I've become very cautious of this years old rumour now. Maybe, given the success of Dread.

A few things I'd play but not a very interesting line up if true

That should only be on the secondary system unless it's one of the things that come with the online subscription. They do checks now and again to see if your subscription is active.

**** it, they might as well chuck in another port of OoT while they're at it. And charge 50 quid for it.

I'm impressed that Pokemon fans aren't tired of it all yet. Purely from the angle people complain about COD getting one release per year and unless it's something distinctly different like Snap, Pokemon feels overtly repetitive. I was done for the gen after Sword

Balls. I think at some point I've selected the wrong thing, as I'm getting that for everything on (at least what I consider to be) my primary system.

Easily one of the greatest games of all time, and I say that as someone who isn't that much of a fan of the series.
I think the WiiU games have held up incredibly well, especially considering Breath of the Wild is a WiiU game.
