I'm not super interested in pokemon either and was pretty unimpressed with the switch OLED, id liken it to a new Iphone purchase, same os same games no real benefit to the upgrade bar some shinny new screen tech.

Following on from Nintendo's earnings report today, the company has disclosed that the Switch is only just in the "midd…

Well timed, Nintendo has said that it considers the Switch to be at the midpoint of its life cycle. Presumably 10yrs is indeed the aim making 2025 look the more likely year for hardware movement.

And they also have no interest in acquiring other companies

And in two months since release Metroid Dread is almost the highest selling entry in the franchise

I for one definitely didn't expect it to become Nintendo's best-selling home console of all-time.

But here we are. Nintendo appear to have caught the same lightning in a bottle that they did for the Wii.

Very, very possibly nonsense. The rumour here is that a Nintendo Direct will be held on 16 February 2022 during which Nintendo will reveal Mario Kart 9

There's also a less backed up claim that the 4k supporting Nintendo Switch 2 will launch late this year alongside Breath of the Wild II. Still not sure what a WiiU looking game needs a 4K system for as to why that rumour ever persists. The initial rumour feels like it loses credibility when it says the twist in MK9 will revolve around gyro. Unless it means gyrocopter flight racing or some such then gyro controls in a handheld would be dumb.

I'm sure Nintendo will destroy their best selling system by announcing new hardware that probably no fab has enough time to manufacture.
Spinning up production of consoles could take years, between electronics, plastics, packaging, etc. in normal conditions, right now it's basically suicide.

I can believe a MK9 with release within the summer, with BotW 2 for winter holidays.

I'd absolutely love to see Mario Kart 9 but I don't believe any of that post. The stuff about Switch 2 launching this year, in particular, is 'my uncle works at Nintendo' level nonsense. We are years away from a Switch successor, there is zero need since the Switch sells very well and has adequate power to deliver Nintendo first party software. Not to mention that as Briareos mentions above, it's literally the worst time possible to begin mass manufacture of a new console.

Yep, sounds like total nonsense. But yes, I too want the MK9 thing to be true. Maybe we can will it into existence.

Perhaps some sort of offering might help. We could build some sort of large wicker structure, then one of you could climb in it...

Would need a virgin. Go check the retro imports thread...

Nintendo already came out and stated the Switch is halfway through its lifecycle, i wouldn't normally believe that from Sony or MS but i fully well believe Nintendo will drag that hardware kicking and screaming until they've wrung every possible last sale out of it.

The biggest thing in Mario Kart 9's favour is that if they don't get it out in the next year or so there won't be time to get the DLC out which will leave Switch 2 without a Deluxe shill title for its first year.

And I don't mind getting shilled on this one
