I’d much prefer €8 a month for some actual servers, long-term cloud storage, and a messaging system at least. Oh, and a much more refined account system in general.

I find most of Nintendo's work around the service's is just an afterthought that is miles away from where other ecosystems are in terms of ease of use and general functionality.
The whole multi device setup for a single account is woeful. Cloud saves are annoying, online is cheap but feels cheap by equal measure, and of course the friends system is still archaic.
All that could do with a massive revamp but foe me the biggest issue is the download speeds of their servers. Over wifi it can be horrendous downloading anything that's large in size... I know it took me hours and hours to download just a few big games and I've got fibre internet with a solid 150 down. On any other system a game that size would have taken a small % of that time.
I also notice the LAN port in the new dock doesn't really add any major speed increase, just better stability and latency.
Everything outside of the games on switch is barebones. But at least we got native Bluetooth support...

The lag you get using a bluetooth controller and wireless earphones is horrendous. There is no instance where using a bluetooth dongle for audio isn't light years superior.

The ride that never ends:
-Switch Pro has now become Switch 2
-Targets 4K via DLSS
-Devkits have been with major companies since late 2020
-Nintendo may struggle to get Switch 2 to be backward compatible natively with Switch 1 software
-Software devs are targeting software completion for late 2022 though the system might not release till early 2023
Sounds perfect for the timing of the OLED launch!

Wouldn’t surprise me for Nintendo to scrap the entire store again and you have to start your digital purchases all over again.
Also no hardware BC is most likely as well, if there changing chipsets again.Last edited by fishbowlhead; 14-10-2021, 09:44.

If there's no B/C for Switch 2 then it will only compound my puzzlement at how digital game buying is embraced so readily on Nintendo systems.
2024 - Launch of Switch 2
2027 - The celebrated rerelease of the Super Mario 64 rom on the store front
2031 - Fans still complaining there are no GC games on the store

I won't lie, Nintendo's software pipeline remains my biggest concern with Switch 2.
If you take away the WiiU ports etc then the Switch line up is still just... okay and is hardly a steady run of classics either. The idea of their next system not being able to repurpose the previous gens games because everyone already played them and so being dependent solely on their supply rate again... well...
