Xbox did fix up this sort of loophole for Xbox live gold a short while before game pass launched. You used to be able to stack multiple years of gold, I used to buy 4 years at a time... now it's a max 36 months.

Really with Sony making fundamental changes to the model it makes sense to limit this in the short term.

It really dose show the difference between the two company's approaches, Sony needs its game division to remain profitable it cant bank roll this division for years as it dosent have the money Microsoft do, if their gamepass service is front loaded at a discount rate by all its subscribers for years in advance i cant see them being able to financially support it or bring big name games to it.
So I got suckered (my choice) into doing this the other night and purchased a 12-month code from ShopTo - have been using them for my own credit and the odd purchase for years - and it didn't redeem.

ShopTo's résponse has been appalling - I raised a ticket, no response, then they closed the ticket. I raised a claim through PayPal and ShopTo's response was 'it should redeem in June and, if not, when your PSN sub expires as long as that's not more than 12 months away,' So I've now had to escalate the dispute with PayPal.

Bye, ShopTo - plenty of other places to buy credit and some games from. I feel like trading in the PS5 for a Series X as well, but that is cutting off my nose to spite my face, still I something I feel like doing though!

Mystery of the missing VRR solved, at least on my tv. I noticed that HDR was off as well and the console kept saying it’s not compatible, well thats odd it definitely did. Turns out a (game mode) had been turned off on the tv itself, thus stopping the 120htz port from working to its full, turn it off and it locks the 120htz port and all the goodies down to plain 60htz with no hdr, vrr, etc.

Glad i had one last fiddle with it all now, i take it back Sony. Though some people are still having issues with it is seems.

Edit. Miles Morales in fidelity mode with ray tracing and at 40fps, absolute chef’s kiss.

Does your TV not support ALLM then? Seems like a weird one as I heard the last PS5 update now forces the TV into game mode (to a detriment on some TV models).

At least you got it sorted!

Chip shortages might be ending soon.

New reports signal possible relief in the drawn-out chip shortage saga which bodes well for gamers still seeking new Xbox and PlayStation consoles

It does support ALLM, I recon that update on the ps5 that auto enabled a game mode actually turned mine off, as it was all fine before hand.

Just tried my PS5 and I’m happy to report that ALLM and HDR worked as they should. For reference that’s on a two year old LG CX.

Weird stuff... I haven't really checked mine to be honest as I've been away for days and have been mostly playing on Xbox when I'm home. I did read on HDTVtest that for some reason the PS5 forces ALLM and means you can turn on certain things like black frame insertion... won't matter for most but it's a strange implementation... seems the VRR setup isn't quite right either so hopefully this will improve in future updates.

Great it's working for you as I saw some insomniac games running fantastic with it on.

One employee said they’d “never been so mad about a cat birthday before.”
I like that Bloomberg’s article about an email that uses humour to wrap up uses humour to wrap up.

Why does everyone feel the need to have their opinion public on this subject? Just keep your gob shut if anything, he sounds like a rambling senile old man. How did it ever get the ok from Sony as a whole?

The guy is all over the place. He's been pretty nuts from day one. Sony can do better than him.

Yeah I'll be honest I am not a fan of Jim... he seems to be the root cause of most problems where messaging is concerned for PS5. I think a change of CEO would work wonders as I find Cerny and Hulst much more informed and on point when they discuss things in the media.

I doubt it'll happen, though with stuff like this you wonder...
