This is going to piss off any MOBA fans but **** it...

I feel that the reason MOBA communities are so toxic is because a match which goes well involves getting ahead on the XP curve and trying to make sure your team rides that wave to victory.

To use an analogy - it's like a fight where you kick a person over, then repeatedly kick them while they're down for 20 minutes to make sure they can't get back up.

Now I accept that at high level play, against balanced teams, that's not how the game works and it's very much a game of nuance and skill. But at low-to-medium level (i.e. the experience for the bulk of the userbase) it's more like this. Kinda like how at high level play, Starcraft is a nuanced strategy game, but at low level, it's actually a racing game - it's about which player can execute a pre-defined strategy faster.
This is part of the reason I dislike battle royale as well. Having it be an fight to crown one person the overall winner just brings out the absolute worst in people and even though they've mixed up the formula and introduced team play, revive and other mechanics I can't help but feel the overall focus of the mode is toxic.

Back in the day I used to enjoy stuff like R6 last man standing but those were shorter team based rounds, with less downtime and overall just felt more fun.

Battle Royale just feels like a reason for pro players to flex and show how they can pwn an entire server full of noobs for their show reel. Then talk about how cool they are and how much they earn. Yawn.

Fortnite can go **** itself as far as I'm concerned.

There's a few examples of popular online games I can cite but here's one:

        Minecraft
I looks like ****. It sounds like ****. It plays like ****. I get bored by its gameplay loop insanely fast and I can't get my head around its popularity, appeal or enduring nature.

I've never enjoyed 2D fighters like Street Fighter II. I don't understand the appeal of memorising and executing random arcane button combos.

The one exception to this is Soul Calibur II, but that's in spite of those mechanics. And I'm totally crap at it.

            This 100%
I just don't have the time to spend trying to get into these types of games
My gaming time is so limited these days that anything this long is never going to even figure in my buying habits

My gaming is basically FIFA or PGA Golf these days with perhaps a smattering of a fighter/Shmup but anything massively story driven is just ignored

No, DT. It's the children who are wrong.

Having watched an abundance of videos of Roblox thanks to Jr1 I'm 100% convinced it's just that young children have much lower standards.

In seriousness I do agree with @Dogg Thang here, in that I really enjoyed Fortnite, I love Apex and other Battle Royale games, and I can definitely see the creative appeal of Minecraft and Roblox.

I'm not surprised kids love them. I would've been nuts about them if they'd existed when I was a kid.

I wouldn't, well Minecraft maybe to some level. The trouble with Roblox is the concept isn't really the issue, the execution is clearly of a shockingly poor quality. I suppose the counter to that though is why should I expect young players to demand better when grown ones are still injecting cash into the scam project Star Citizen
