If it wasn't for the rainbow on the top, I'd really like that controller.

I thought it was a pretty decent showcase... agree not having in-game for the big titles like Fable and Hellblade was disappointing, especially Hellblade because we've seen enough sizzle reel stuff now.
Starfield and Forza will round out the year nicely. I really think Starfield looks a heck of a lot more polished than last time and that can only be a good thing. I also am not surprised it's 30fps but I hope that is locked in and doesn't buckle.
I really liked the look of Avowed even with the obvious art direction changes. That'll scratch my Elder Scrolls itch a good bit.
Absolutely not surprised they gave the Series S a 1tb storage bump. That'll surely sell decent enough with the timing around Starfield launch.
All up it was a solid show but I'm more curious about what is still missing...
Everwild, Perfect Dark, Contraband... whatever the Coalition and id Software are working on...
The show has given us a glimpse of what is in the pipeline but there's still a tonne going on at the studios we're not seeing. I'm sure once Starfield is out we will see more from the other studios

Stanfield looks like it's in for a rough start, it being announced that its locked to 30fps on series x is really disappointing, that it struggled with the frame-rate in the presentation is not great either its gonna be a good few months of people really unfairly showing up how glitchy and broken it is isn't it.

Morning After:
As everyone has said, the lack of gameplay footage really was the main kicker here, it's hard to imagine that several of the games aren't far enough along not to be able to show some particularly when it's in a trailers worth of footage. If it were a measuring stick of how close a game is to release then Clockwork Revolution would appear to be one of the early 2024 titles.
The 60fps issue is one I'm perfectly fine with. It was never really on the cards and will increasingly not be, consoles will never be the the way to live that life. Also, I can play it on PC so all good
With Starfield out in September, Forza 8 out in October there's very little need for MS to launch another tentpole in 2023 so for 2024 we have Avowed, Hellblade II and presumably Fable 4 (as I'm assuming Playground will be lining up Forza Horizon 6 for 2025) and Clockwork Revolution.
They've said they want one tentpole every three months so that seems the likeliest line up and the key factor is that would broadly compare to Sony with Spider-Man 2 out in October and then a 100% vacant slate for the indefinite future as things stand. It wasn't as good a show as it could have been but the format of the presentation was spot on, cutting the fluff and clearly communication what info there was and as a paving stone it was enough to curb stomp Sony's effort the other week. There'll really be no forgiveness though if 2024 rolls around and the titles end up vanishing like the likely destined to be cancelled Everwild or get hit by delays. By the time January 2024 lands it needs to be very clear what the next of these is and that it's imminent within that quarter to convince they're going to stick with a consistently delivering approach.

I think Fable will be 2025. That trailer shouted 'A long way off' to me.
When I saw Clockwork Revolution, before I knew what it was, I thought it was a Bioshock Infinite remake.
Starfield is a Steam buy for me. It'll be infinitely modable on PC, and the break fix mods will be a requirement. With any luck it'll have all the DLSS bells and whittles on so 1440p or even 1080p with DLSS will get 60fps.

Starfield looks good, 30FPS locked in place isn't my cup of tea but i'll be getting it on PC anyway as it more powerful than my XSX(and PS5), and then just the PC mod support alone is the reason to go there.
Other than that, i'd give the career mode in FS2024 a good go, i regularly go into Flight Sim to just fly over the quick start tour selection of cities (i've updated with the in game texture updates which makes it look even better) combined with that music just feels so relaxing.
Forza 8, i'd give it go but i've not been in to sim racers in a long time, didn't care for the latest GT, give me a reason to lug out the wheel again after getting bored with FH Mexico and hotwheels not using it.
What i did like of the rest of the event:
Cyberpunk DLC, ready to go back however this time it'll be on PC(epic, got it there for £15) instead of XSX. If they can fulfil the promises of better A.I. and fix the police (hopefully to be more fun)
Jusent, (think that's how it spelled) the climbing game, really depends on how the platforming feels, if it alot of uncharted style snap climbing then i'll be less interested in it, maybe one to be treated like indie experience, go for the visuals.
Avowed looks alright, i'd be up for elderscroll like game with dark messiahs boot in it.
Metaphor Re Fantazio - new IP rpg from Atlus, yes please.
Towerborne - castle crashers style game
A more interesting event than sonys even with the ingame cutscene crap at the start.

The Fallout series hasn't sold over 46 million copies based purely on hype.
I don't really count Fallout 76 as a Fallout game tho - despite improvements, it's still a painful game to play every time I check hoping that something has changed since I last looked. It was quite a good one to pick up the 50 reward points for getting an achievement for a while - lots of easy ones to get in the early game. Just stream it via the cloud.Last edited by MartyG; 12-06-2023, 13:03.
