All 3 are plausible I guess... Everwild and Perfect Dark appeared to have almost a do-over so wouldn't expect them any time soon.

I just watched the Hellblade 2 developer diary stuff last night. That does seem like it is either going to land end of 2023 or early 2024.

Hellblade was excellent. That and RDR2 were the only two games on my XBoneX and they were both awesome.

I'm still somewhat concerned that Hellblade 2 will end up deviating so much from the point of the original that it'll risk disappointing both fans and newcomers. It's an odd choice to try and make into a blockbuster

It was a small budget game that looked and sounded much bigger than it actually was thanks to tight design and great story telling driving it forward. It’s not like God of War where you can take it anywhere, Hellblade had a very defined beginning, middle & end. I don’t know how that transfers into a sequel to be honest.

Take this with a spread of butter but it made me smile. After the Series X fridge, who knows?

So this is a discussion that has been quietly bubbling away lately. The makers of Baldur's Gate 3 have confirmed that they are working on the series version of the game but have ran into a problem getting the split screen feature to run on the Series S. They said it was a 'Requirement' for launch and as such, if they can't get it working, it can't come to Xbox. It seems that the Series S is having problems because of its memory constrains possibly for a number of reasons. Perhaps the Engine they are using is a bit to memory heavy to manage to render two screens at once, or their could be some other technical problem that's eating memory.

1: The discussion is two fold. Should MS just let this game ship without Split screen and possibly open the flood gates to games that have features on the Series X but not the S?

2: The Series S is only 2 years in and we already hear its a headache for memory, and now we have this game that seems not to be able to ship at all because the the console. How viable will this console be in another 3 years when game engines advance and Target the Playstation 5 (the bigger selling console) and Series X?

A one slice toaster to go along with your mini fridge who are they targeting with this stuff?

I'm thinking lonely male living in a bedsit.

Can series S users sue MS for telling us there will be next gen parity? I'm getting Phoenix Wright on the blower.

                    I think you're being a bit unfair.

                    It clearly states it's a two-slice toaster.

I'm trying to avoid making the game sound naff but I'm assuming your right about how it uses memory as looking at the gameplay vids it seems odd that it would be so intensive to run. It feels like it's something game specific and given the niche mode element I'd just drop the split-screen altogether if I were them.

I think the obvious fear is that this isn't going to be the only game with these problems, and as the generation moves on I think it'll only get worse.
As Hudson says, MS promised Parity and if they make an exception here it'll set a precedent and break that promise.
Personally I think they'll have to drop it if they want the console to have a long life. I mean can you imagine if GTA6 can't release on the Series consoles because they can't get some feature to run on the S?!

Feature parity is massively important and no platform provider should ever permit a release without it.

The Series S is definitely proving difficult in some scenarios, this one being specifically split screen co-op, which is a memory hog.

The thing is the developer themselves suggested they hadn't announced anything yet as they were still working through solutions.

The wording made it not seem as dramatic as it's been portrayed in the media.

That said, given we know multiple developers have found the memory limits on Series S an extra challenge MS should absolutely step in and assist in these situations. Much like Sony assists titles to ensure they play to the PS5 strengths, equally MS should be ensuring titles can efficiently circumvent the Series S weaknesses.

As I said above feature parity is important, so MS should really step in here and support.

The man in the bedsit can have two slices then

This is probably my biggest disappointment of the year so far, i was super hyped for a soviet themed Bioshock but man alive they really didn't deliver at all. The xbox game-pass curse continues it would seem, waiting for Redfall and Starfeild to let me down next
