Just finished the final-final Badge Test on Super Mario Bros. Wonder for 100% completion (actually got the main game ending a week or two ago). Properly got my arse handed to me and lost a ton of lives in the process but managed to get there in the end with sheer perseverance/muscle memory!
Definitely the best 2D Mario that Nintendo have made in decades (absolutely sh1ts all over the NSMB games) but ultimately not quite as good as SMW or arguably SMB3 also. Lots to like with a new-ish art and sound direction but could've also been a bit tighter in places with the gameplay (the badge tests were a nice departure from normal Mario fare but the badge power-ups are useless - they're hardly ever really needed in-game for the main quest).
Will be interesting to see if future 2D Marios stick to this style.

was several steps too far for my tolerance levels, so in the end I cheesed it via multiplayer and floated across the gap as a ghost to reach someone's flag. I'd enjoyed the special levels up to that point, and even the earlier stages leading of the final-final level leading up to that last segment. Agreed, though, it's a superb game overall.
