If the rumours are true then the manufactured numbers are high with Nintendo aiming to sell in 9 months what they did in 18 for the original system. Apparently sites are now cancelling orders made from the US from people who hoped to get one shipped over to dodge the tariffs which will free up orders too

But did the bad publicity injure their sales in any way? They alternated between ignoring and gaslighting the situation and continued to sell gangbusters, including replacement controllers.

It took Nintendo being threatened with class action in North America before they decided to change course and offer free Joy-Con repair/replacement. Before that, they were totally happy to constantly veer between denial of Joy-Con issues and gaslighting the userbase.

No way in hell were they ever going to put Hall Effect tech in Switch 2 Joy-Con/Pro Controllers.

I'm still of the idea that the next generation (Switch 3, PS6, X Box whatever) will be the last where we have the option of going physical. Sony and MS already offer digital-only consoles, and I think Nintendo will be the last one out because they make good money in licencing cart production.

I hope you're right, but I think Nintendo have made up their minds on it and their actions - high physical software RRPs, Virtual Gamecards, Keys - would suggest that Switch 3 will be all-digital IMO.

We shall obviously see.

Nintendo have apparently confirmed the sticks on the Switch 2 are not Hall Effect.

You'd have thought after all the bad publicity Nintendo got over stick drift (and deservedly so), that's one thing they'd want to fix to avoid the same fate with Switch 2.
