A Nintendo spokesperson confirms that physical Switch 2 Edition Games have the original Switch game AND the upgrade pack on the same game card (no download code, no download required, exclusively Switch 2 game cards) https://www.vooks.net/nintendo-confirms-no-download-codes-needed-for-physical-switch-2-edition-games/

I think the NSO version of the GC pad has analogue triggers, but I'm not willing to pay for a controller specifically for a handful games on GC that use it - which is a shame as games like GX are great but it really highlights the continued stupidity of maintaining digital triggers as the default for Switch 2.

For Wind Waker - I had the same reaction, knowing HD exists and the rumours of it being lined up for rerelease along with Twilight Princess, the move to put it out on NSO is an odd move for Nintendo as it really kicks the legs out from HD getting a rerelease, it's the version I'd have preferred to have seen come out despite the cost.

For me, I think one of the issues with GC NSO is that I can't shake a sense that Nintendo left it too long. There's not actually that much I'm bothered about revisiting anymore.

Honestly when I saw that that was the first game they were bringing for GC I thought it was absolutely nuts when you consider they already did an HD version.

It worked great on WiiU too. It was so useful having the map on the gamepad screen for the sailing parts. Shame they didn't include wireless docking on the Switch 2 so the same thing could be done on it.

Nintendo haven't yet found a way to justify charging €60/£70/$80 for a Switch 2 port of Wind Waker HD refuse to rule out bringing Wind Waker HD to Switch 2.

That's good that the GC pad adapter can be used, especially as it was really a WiiU peripheral originally.

I liked using that to play Sunshine on the Mario 3D Allstars collection. Although there is a lot of gipping on pricing with the Switch 2, they remain pretty generous in terms of controller compatibility.

NSO emulation is definitely not top-draw (Virtual Console was quite clearly superior because Nintendo made more of an effort with it). Are we definitely sure that the NSO GC controller is digital triggers?

Also, Nintendo have confirmed that the GC Controller Adapter can be used with original GC controllers for GC on NSO.

Wasn't he adamant that GC on Switch could never ever be done??

I'm pretty sure that the PS3 did (it just wasn't called that back then) and that older controllers, like the Xbox 360, used better quality sensors.

No, it doesn't. Hall Effect has been a hot topic in recent years but, speaking for myself, I've rarely experienced stick drift over the years on any machine, and almost no first party pads have used the technology. I think the JoyCon 1 sticks are just a very very flawed design. If they've redesigned them to be as reliable as, say, your average DualShock stick, that should go a long way to make them last longer even if they aren't Hall Effect.

    Dreamcast. Lovely, lovely Dreamcast.

Experts are starting to chime in that over time, Switch 2 prices may be 20% higher if Nintendo is impacted by tariffs to a significant degree.

Does the time of year play a factor when it comes to sales? Early summer (Switch 2) when people tend to be more outdoors versus late fall (Sony/MS) when it's dark and you're more inclined to stay indoors and play games?

This is looking a lot better organised than the PlayStation five launch.
That’s not really a comparison though, PS5 still launched on time, well priced, in the middle of COVID, with fairly new tech too boot, there were monumental efforts that went into all this.

Switch2 is just launching with pretty standard tech, in non shut down environment with supply chains in full swing.

Scalping is out of everyone’s control.
