I think they probably will, yeah. I'm honestly interested to see how sales play out over the next 12 to 24 months. Once launch mania dies down, I can't help but feel a lot of Switch 1 owners just aren't going to be sufficiently bothered about upgrading to shell out £400+.

I can't disagree with you on that.

A 3DS-style early market humbling and subsequent price readjustment would be ideal here but I suspect that Nintendo are going to try and ride this out.

I agree with you guys that the price was always going to be about £400 or just under (I had £380 as my guess). The discounted price of MKW in the bundle is pretty good, too.

But I don't think it gets away from the fact that in real terms, £395 is still a decent chunk of change.

£430 with MK isn’t too bad all said.
    Corrected that for you.

But l agree with you for the most part. I always had Switch 2 as being £400 minimum (I thought it would be near £450 standalone). Anybody who was expecting sub-400 was being naive IMO.

That said, the physical software prices do suck. For me, £70/$80 games places it all in the context of Nintendo giving the userbase a generation's notice that they are likely going all-digital with the software for their next flagship console hardware.

You're not incorrect, but we know that the OLED would've almost certainly been the "Switch Pro" were it not for the freak circumstances of COVID and the chip shortages so there is context IMO.

In any case, I'm calm about not having a Switch 2 day one. MKW and Bananza would be nice to play for sure but it's not enough right now for me to splurge £500 all-in right now. I have enough of a Switch 1 backlog to get through and Switch 1 OLEDs look like they might dip to £200 soon-ish so I might go in on one (my 2017 Switch 1 is falling to bits at this point) and make do with that.
