I think Disgaea may be a finisher as is .hack: Infection though that has been somewhat displaced by Disgaea. I suspect a fair amount of time is needed to get the most out of the game. Having said that, I thought the same of FF X-2 but I got put off by the strength of the fiends on the farplane. That, even with all girls at Level 99.

I have had a pretty good year for completing games. Ones I can remember are;
Beyond Good & Evil (Xbox) - It really is as good as everyone says it is, loved every bit of it. Is their a soundtrack available?
Max Payne 2 (Xbox) - Really enjoyed this, you can't beat a no-brainer every once in a while!
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (GC) - Great game, still enjoyable despite having played the PSone original.
Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow (Xbox) - Enjoyable, but frustraiting at parts.
GTA: Vice City (Xbox) - Fan-bloody-tastic!
Transformers (PS2) - Very enjoyable, bit annoying at times though.
Next on the list is Ninja Gaiden.

Just clocked Panzer Dragoon Orta. Now that was fun. Beautiful little short-but-sweet ending, too; I thought the bit before the credits was all there was, and felt cheated, but then waited and ah, there we are. I think Smilebit must have played through ICO more than a few times to come up with that one...
Anyway, great game. Flawed, in some ways - I can see why Edge gave it the review they did - but also I think a lot more fun than they gave it credit for. Oh, well, on with bettering my terrible grades and trying to unlock the rest of Pandora's Box I guess.

2am this morning I finally collected all 201 items in Pikmin 2. The final boss was incredibly impressive. The art design particularly striking? Throughout the entire game in fact the character/level/item designs have been great. The end FMV was short yet satisfying. Now I have all those challenges to conquer
Plan to complete:
This morning I?ve once again started to play through Ocarina of Time. I?ve spent ages just wandering around talking to characters, collecting items and just generally exploring. Its amazing how much I?ve forgotten and how incredibly inspiring I still find everything. Of course the graphics show their age, but I still think they look artistically gorgeous and the sense of scale remains immense. I was already greatly anticipating the new Zelda, but now 2005 seems like an eternality away.
Four Swords + still hasn?t been beaten. Shame on me. Im at 4:1 and haven?t played it for a month or so. Must? really really must play some more soon. In fact, tonight, I think I will?
Mario Vs Donkey Kong remains in my GBA SP and I play this regularly. Haven?t beat it all yet, am in no rush tbh. I love the rendered look, the controls and the way it makes your brain work ahead of its self. Great in short bursts ? or to lose a couple of hours. A perfect hand held experience?

I've just started Metroid Prime again as I didn't finish it last time. I got about 10 hours in last time, so just restarted it now.
It amazes me how well crafted the game world is: I thought I'd be a bit clever and instead of hitting the blast door in the main plaza, I went over the bridge and hit the blast door near the Wasp Hives thinking I could mess the games sequence up a bit.... Instead I was beautifully guided to where I should have been and still felt like *I* was in control throughout.
Great stuff.

I've just conquered Super Mario World (SNES) with a mate. I'm halfway through Metroid Fusion (GBA) and I'm completely hooked. Other games I've finished this year include Advance Wars (GBA), LOZ: Wind Waker (GC), LOZ: LTTP (GBA), Kid Icarus (NES) and Final Fantasy IX (PSone). Looking at the short list I see I haven't bothered to finish many games I've started playing, giving some correlation with the "Gaming Slump" thread. I am currently playing Harvest Moon: FOMT (GBA) but it seems to be a game without an end. I'm looking forward to completing Tales of Symphonia (GC), LOZ: Minish Cap (GBA), Animal Crossing (GC/DS) and my recently acquired Secret of Mana (SNES) cartridge. These days I'm never in a rush to play the latest released title, mainly because owning so many different console and having access to large pool of games (eBay) means I tend to play a huge mix of old and new. The Nintendo DS has got me very excited however, and I can see myself importing one one very soon after release.

i've got through a few games this year. the (new) ones i can remember include:
Prince of Persia (Xbox)
Viewtiful Joe (JPN version)
Biohazard Zero
Zelda: Wind Waker (JPN version)
GTA: Vice City (PS2)
Chaos Legion (JPN version. got all the Thanatos pieces / upgrades etc.)
MGS2 (PS2. completely 3 or 4 times. Tanker level around 7 or 8 )
Beyond Good and Evil (GC. completed 3 times, great fun)
Freedom Fighters (Xbox)
KotOR (Xbox. Light and Dark endings)
jesus. looking back on it that's lots. i've also done speed runs through older stuff like Metroid Prime and P.N.03. now i'm going to finish Drakengard and try to complete Fantavision (which is proving to be harder than i first thought). other than that, i'll be waiting for Killzone.

yeah. i think it's worth sticking with. as you progress your squad increases giving you more *ahem* freedom to approach levels and more of an 'us-against-them' feeling. taking (and over-powering) a heavily guarded Russian outpost with just 4 soldiers, harsh language and a grenade is a great feeling. the command system is very well implemented, with your other fighters doing pretty much what they are ordered to do - automatically firing sentry guns and giving covering fire while you nip across the road to blow up some trucks. the story is quite good as well, with each victory making a noticable (albeit scripted) difference to your surroundings, giving a nice sense of progression. graphics and environments are well realised, with big levels and enough varied locations to make it interesting to play. sometimes it's too easy to leave your guys behind and take on the mission yourself, which usually ends in disaster. but once you learn to use the squad it becomes highly enjoyable.
