Thanks for the history lesson Concept.

I'll be sure to check out some of the info @ file shack so i can see what i'm missing. Hope it doesn't look too tempting as i'm sure that theres no way on the planet that i can afford a PC capable of running it. I suppose i can always wait for the XBox version though.

Aye, sorry if I came over as condescending. The Xbox movie that I saw on the Edge disc, and the playable footage on the net does look stunning. So again, I think the 'experience' of Doom III is going to transfer well over to the console.

I guess I'm looking towards Doom III and Half-Life 2 as games that are going to stretch my PC and give me a good taste as to what the next generation is going to be like. Along with being fine games too of course.

I should be getting a new ninja PC (Athlon 64 3200, 1 Gig ram, GF 6800 GT) delivered in time for this.

            Hopefully.

That's what I have now, apart from the graphics card, which is the weak link in the chain at present being a 9800SE.

But that'll change when ATI commercially release the x800XT. I just hope they don't delibrately delay retail availability to spoil Doom 3/Nivida party.

Although on second thoughts, I doubt Nivida would mind too much.

Just me, considering I won't consider anything but an ATI.

I'm probably going for an ATi card, although the nVidia ones are scoring better benchmarks, the ATi ones are still perfectly playable and seem to score more consistantly across the board.

I'll wait and see what the general opinions of this are like before I buy it. I'm saving all my anticipation for the real king of fps: Half life 2.

I thought the Xbox version looked pretty decent. You won't notice PS3.0 spec effects at 640x480 :P

Only reason I wouldn't play the Xbox one is the controls, and probable lack of multiplayer options.

DooM 3 looks really sweet, but I guess I would need to upgrade my current PC.
                          (P4 2.0 ghz, 512 mb ram and a Geforce 3 ti 500)

the xbox version suffered alot from the framerate dropping rediculously low like deus ex invisible war

hopefully by the time of release they will fix that problem.

not really, just check out the benchmarks. the geforce 3 can even run it, sure you will have to mess with the quality in the graphics, but you'll still get a great performance. which is what carmack said in the benchmark.
