    Ya think?

Well what's the model number of the fontopias you have? I'm willing to give them a shot since I'm not 100% convinced of the MX500's amazingness.

Mine cost me ?34.99 from the Sony Centre - they look like these - http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...510505-0423069 - I cant be sure of the model as Im at work presently. May take a little getting used to due to their design, but will soon be superb for you. Tight bass, nice treble and the fact they are in-ear means that there is minimal sound to annoy others outside.

A word of advice though, if you get these, make sure you dab a little bit of superglue onto the rubber fitments as Ive found they come off reasonably easily, and cost ?12 per piece to replace (to my cost).

Nice one, I'll pick them up when I'm done at work.

I have them Fontopias, absolutely fantastic, never heard such bass from such tiny in ear speakers.

My buds are impossible to accidentally get off, you just have to make sure you get a perfect seal in your ear with them, does feel strange at first though. Sort of like you need to pop your ears.

I'm not "weird" about stuff in my ears. TBH I really need something to cancel out outside noise as that's what I think makes the ipod sound ****.

I didn't get a chance to get them today, still stuck in work

Problem is I have a lot of mp3s of old scratching mixes that are too rare to find the CDs off..... I am gonna have to bodge the mp3s to make them into one continious track
The other option would be to burn them back to CD (CDRW) and join them as you export them back to iTunes. Long winded, but maybe a last resort?

In answer to a few questions about gaps on mix CDs annoying people with iPods..... If you use CDEX to encode your CDs then you can specify a section of the CD to encode.

If the length of the section is the entire CD then you end up with one mp3 file, for example, of 74 minutes, with an uninterrupted mix on it.

This is what I do for my mp3 files.

The only problem then is that you have very long mp3 files... which leads me onto my questio which is: Is it possible to easily fast forward through large parts of mp3 files with an iPod?

                  2 ways of fast forward:
Hold down the (fast) forward button.
Press centre button, it toggles through volume, stars etc. The one after volume (a bar with a dot on it) lets you use the scroll wheel to fast forward and rewind through to any particular point in a song, it also displays the duration of song, helpful if you know where you want to FF to.

iPod mini video review, and to be honest I think it looks ok now that I've seen it in the flesh.

                    Price is still crazy though.

I have about 2GB of data I am currently backing up on the iPod, I created a folder to put it all in alongside contacts, calender, etc.... basically if the worst was to happen and my iPod get stolen, is there a way I could lock the contents of this folder, or does it mean doing some winRAR trick?

You'd need to encrypt it... otherwise anyone who has the ipod has the files.

Well I've got the headphones Marcus recommended and they seem quite nice but I'm not sure I'm using them properly...

Regardless of which size earbuds (I think medium gives the best results ) I'm not sure I'm getting them in far enough.

The sound etc is great but I can hear my own breathing etc amplified through the phones.

                          Any pointers on proper use?

I have the same ones as Marcus, and I find that you need to 'lift' your ear to help the buds in.

Place a bud in one ear, and lift the top of that ear slightly with your opposite hand, gently pushing the bud in at the same time. This opens up your ear canal and lets the bud go in properly so that it can get a good seal. The seal is the secret of their amazing bass, as by sealing your ear canal they only need to move a very small amounts of air to make large sounds.

Start with the smallest size of bud and work up until it feels right. You can test if you have made a good seal by pulling gently on the buds. If it feels like they are tugging slightly at your ear, then they are in place.

This may sound complicated, but it is easy once you know the techinque and have the right size buds for your ears.

Another tip: keep your ears clean. Those buds will get mighty waxy if you don't.

Thanks for the advice... still trying to get the knack of it though... even with the smallest buds.

I think I underestimates just how freaky it is the first couple it times... I know I'm not getting a decent deal based on what you have been saying.

                              *continues trying*

Yeah make some passworded zips or rar files. Anyone have any other ideas?
