Just filled my iPhone... or have I? 2000 songs on there (odd) and exactly 0 bytes free. Uninstall a few apps, free up a few kb, surely? Nope, exactly 0 bytes free.

Me thinks apple don't want you having more than 2,000 songs on a 16gb iPhone.

That sounds weird. It's not got one of those weird settings like the Shuffles does it? Where there's a little slider for songs vs data ratio? I've got an iphone here (8gb), lemme plug it in and see...

      :edit:

Ok no I can't see any sort of slider or similar with this one.

Sorry if I'm a bit out of date, but what's the current state of play when it comes to playing FLAC files on an iPod?

Just got a 120GB classic so I'm starting to rip my CD collection using ALAC, but it seems FLAC is a better, more flexible solution for the future. Is is possible to do without losing tags or creating lots of hassle?

I have a (probably) silly question about iPhones. If I were to get my wife AND myself one on contract, if I buy a game or app on iTunes can I sync to both phones, or do I have to pay twice?

Furthermore, is it true that you can't set already owned or ripped MP3's as ring tones?

FLAC files are better and more flexible, but aren't compatible with iPods or iPhones

A good quality FLAC rip is asgood as you're going to get from compressed audio. There used to be a couple of custom firmwares that allowed ipod support but with limitations. It was only possible on a couple of models and not using iTunes and I seem to remember it was firewire only.

I've no idea what support is like now though but there used to be a few support sites. Try Google as they may well still be going.

Nobody answered me so I'm asking again!

For the first question I'm not sure, however I do have my iPod Touch and iPhone both using the same games and apps without having to pay for them again.

You can also make your own ringtones, just takes a little bit of tinkering with iTunes.

Yup likewise. Buy once and sync twice

I guess this goes in the iPod thread since it's about iPhones sort of.

Bloody O2 have stopped there Bolt On service, I got my iPhone with 500 txts a months but went way over that on first month so wanted to just to the unlimited texts bolt on, checked the web, then phoned up today and was told you can't do any bolt ons now since they are "revising" the service!? Anyone know whats going on? Will they bring it back cause I send a load of texts and my bill will be sky high now without this!

They just want to make more money from customers I would guess. Better you revise your contract and guarantee them the income than take bolt ons as you require them.

News to me! I have the unlimited text bolt on with my iPhone... I hope!

If you have it already you still will, just not letting new people sign up to any bolt ons! So I've ran out of texts and don't renew til the 22nd so anything from now until then I'm paying for now!! Grrr!

Just noticed something in the 3.0 firmware... when you're playing Podcasts. Instead of having the usual buttons beneath the time bar, you now have : Email, Rewind 30 seconds, and a button to change the playback speed (1x, 2x, 1/2x). Quite nice touches.
