?169 is the cheapest you will find from a trusted place eg Amazon. Free delivery also. Go with them tbh or pay a small amount more to get a 20GB.

And besides, when you go back to radio, you soon realise why everyone listens to personal mp3 players. Because DJs are twats who talk over songs, never give you ID3 tags, and your sort of music never gets played.
Lol...calm down. I can only go from my own personal experience and dab sounds miles better to me, the main reason being I'm addicted to 5Live and you can only get that on mw and as such you get a crap reception. It's the only station I listen to, which is why I want dab...simple.

Len, if like me you're a 5 Live addict, have you tried getting the downloads of Fighting Talk from the official website, and putting them on your iPod? I usually manage to catch it live, so I haven't gone to investigate what format they're in.

Cheers for the heads up mid, I'll go have a look at that. I usually catch it half asleep on a Sat morning through my dab radio at home.

After checking they're actually in mp3 format which is nice.

            Hi Crispin,
many thanks for your reply and info a page back, its greatly appreciated.Basically you answered all my queries.I'am very new indeed to MP3 players and encoding in general.I have had some experience with WAV(not WMA)encoding in the past and call me an old fart but I always liked this form of encoding, admittably it takes up tons of space but the sound quality is far superior to MP3,I think its a nice extra alternaive to have. Some mags I have read recently have made no comment at all on whether or not the ipod was able to play WAV,hence my asking.
How does Apple lossless compare in quality terms to WAV and MP3,better or worse, how does it work?

the current mrs macosx gave me a shuffle on valentines morning, ahem, an ipod shuffle. Better than my ipod IMO, just the size of one of those USB memory sticks. Great for the gym etc. Only probelm needs charging from USB, so unles you take a laptop on holiday....

WAV and AIFF are practically the same thing afaik. Apple lossless is pretty damned good. I personally think AAC sounds great.

I cracked and ordered a blue mini at amazon

I don't even know why tbh, but this past week I've really wanted one, despite saying repeatedly that I'd never get an ipod due to how common they are

I got a 512mb shuffle yesterday and I love it - sound quality is astounding for its size - very pleased indeed!

The bose completely blow them out of the water though - its not 3 times the price, merely 2 - ?249 for the sound dock..

The On Stage speakers are made with portability in mind. The Bose however aren't so on that merit the On Stage speakers are up a point or two. Then consider them being half the price + more and they are an impressive piece of kit. I actually physically have no space for the Bose speakers but the On Stage would fit just nicely on my desk.

Reviews on both speakers can be found on www.ipodlounge.com for clarification.
