Anapod is a great one. It costs (I can't remember how much), but it's really good. There are others and I think there's a free one but I remember trying it and not getting on well with it.

In terms of not wiping your iPod - is it set to autosync? If so I genuinely don't know but, if it were me, I'd get something like Anapod and uninstall iTunes until you have it sorted. Once you have everything off your iPod onto your PC, you can reinstall iTunes.

If it's set to autosync it'll wipe them, download Sharepod and you can extract the songs from your iPod onto your PC:

I have a question...
If your dumbass step dad deletes itunes from your cpu with 400+ songs, will they all wipe from your ipod the next time you plug it into your pc???

Couple of questions:

1) Have you enabled disk mode? If not you're in big trouble, as there's no way to easily access the contents as far as I know.

2) Did iTunes itself go along with the library? If so, then it's possibly good news - you won't have to worry about it auto-launching when you connect the iPod.

Without iTunes installed, and with Disk Mode on, you just need to go into the hidden folder on the drive and copy them all off again.

I just got my replacement 5G iPod back from Apple. Not a bad turnaround! I called them on Thursday last week, it was picked up on Friday, then a new one came today on Wednesday.

This one isn't being touched by human hands until it has a screen protector.

Nah, but how are they to know what's dodgy and what isn't. 99% of my music is in MP3 format.

they don't care. i've sent about 20 ipods to them this year, maybe more (on behalf of customers), and they've never even said 'oi you stop sending us yarrrr music'

Neko, does you 5g's battery life drain considerably if you watch movies or footage on it? Mine goes really quick. So much that im afraid to use it at times. Now i jus pug it into my pc at work and use the power through that. Do you think it will ruin the battery life of the pod if i charge it constantly without letting it drain all the way to the end?

Yeah, you get 20 hours battery for music but only 3-4 for movies. Try using MP4 instead of H.264 encoding as it's less CPU intensive.

I gather modern rechargable batteries like being charged regularly and not being run until they're flat. With my old 4G iPod it was charged every single day and the battery is as good as ever.

i see, thanks neko, always good to have a second opinion. Looks like the pods gonna get juiced every day then! Ima put a dvd movie on it to watch during lunch! lol!

No don't think it was. It was just a cover in the style of a hoody, nothing fancy about it, just looked cool.

Out of curiosity, has the Ipod got any home brew games on it yet? Jus a thought, if the kidz can program doom on a mobile phone surely the Pods gotta be able to do somat, after all theres plenty of space on the HD.
