Hey hogwart.

To convert wmv to mp4. You need to check up on AVIsynth, you
can then just run a scripy through PSPvideo9. Which will convert it/them for
you. It's not not hard, but tricky if your not use to it. Try this thread over
at PSPvideo9 forum for detailed info.

www.pspvideo9.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1255

The long route, but a easier is to convert it using VirualDub, to xvid.
Making sure you have wmv9VCM install from Microsoft site (in media player
download section). Then you can pop it through PSPvideo9, to convert it
to .mp4. I'd only do this for small(ish) videos, bit long. The AVIsynth is the
better route..

Hope this helps...

Edit : Tries the latest PSPvideo9. WMV worked fine through it...

Has anyone had success with PSP Video 9, using over 768k with 2-pass variable encoding? I just keep getting 'incompatible data' when transferring it to my PSP.

768k looks ok, but I'm not maxing out my 1gb memory stick - for example South Park @ 768k (128k audio) comes out as 511MB. Ideally I'd like to encode at 1408k, which should just about fit on the card.

When I asked on the PSP Video 9 forums, they just said 'don't use >768'. Cor thanks! (so why are the options there in the first place?)

Here's the profile I'm using - any help would be appreciated!

<profile name="16:9 (1408)" mode="SP > A-VBR" vbitrate="1408" qscale="0" minrate="0" maxrate="1500" qmin="0" qmax="0" resolution="400x192" framerate="29.97" passes="2" abitrate="128" achannels="2" vol="800" samplerate="24000" crop="false" croptop="0" cropbottom="0" cropleft="0" cropright="0" custflags="" avsfile="" gopsize="0" />

Are the minrate and maxrate values a problem? Should they be proportional to the average value? (ie. min=0, max=2816)

hi, sorry if already answered, but 55 pages are too much for me (laaazy) ^^'

anyone knows of a video encoding tool for PSP (free or commercial) with a crop function with preview?

I need a function that allow me to draw a rectangle on the video, maintaining corect PSP screen proportions, and convert the video cropped in this way.

converted first movie file last night, using PSP Video 9, nice little app, (www.rapiz.net site was down anyway) used defualt settings and end product looks absolutely fine - although a bit quiet (it was a 350mb .avi - about 338mb after covnersion iirc) is it worth altering any of the settings, does it make that much difference to the converted quality etc ? read a few posts above but not really clued up on this so would probably makes things worse by playing around with settings myself !

Thanks.

There's a PSP FAQ in rllmuk's Ask the Forum, the first page has some decent settings for PSPVideo. I encoded an entire DVD down to just below 400MB with them.

The file was not bad on the PC, haven't tried it on my PSP yet.

Anyone else having a problem with PSP Video 9 only encoding a small portion of the VOB file, before telling you it's completed? I've done a clean install of the new version (1.72) and I still get the same problem. I am running Windows 2000 and have the latest version of Quicktime installed.

I can encode small .avi files ok though.

Movies for PSP

1) Download this .rar file and unrar it to the root of your memory stick (you can get winrar here. I prefer Winzip in general, and associate only .rar files with Winrar, but it's up to you). This will create a movie folder on the memory stick:

The 100MNV01 folder wil contain some sample MP4s for you to look at.

2) Download a copy of DVD Decrypter (for ripping DVDs) and 3GP Converter, which is used for converting the decrypted file into the format of MP4 the PSP reads.

3) DVD -> PSP MP4 guide

A) Place DVD in Drive
B) Open DVD Decryptor
C) Under Mode, select IFO
D) Under Tools, Settings, IFO Mode, change File Splitting to None
E) In the main window, under Input, highlight the movie VOB listing
F) Click on the Stream Processing, click enable Stream Processing and select only the stuff you need.
Typically just video and probably 2 channel Dolby Digital will be fine if its available.

G) Click the large graphic with the DVD -> HDD image to extract the movie.
so i've followed that and it all works perfectly but how do u use dvd decryptor to get the subtitle on the video?

anyone?

Comment

It doesn't look easy, you have to use a different tool to burn the subtitles into an AVI file, then convert the avi file into an MP4.

There's a bit of info here about burning in subtitles to an Avi - http://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/153058.php and I also read somewhere (can't find it right now) that AutoGK has options for converting VOB's to Avi whilst adding the subtitles.

Hi Guys.

Saw this new GUI for FFmpeg. It only deals with mp4 SP no
AVC. Should be quite handy for people who want to know how
big the final video will be. It will accept mkv, wmv, ogm and avs.
Also, you need to install AviSynth...

Once you've got your psp format mp4 files, is there any way to convert this file to any other format, so you can make changes to it, or do you have to go back and find the original source file? I've been unable to find any way of using the mp4 files on the computer, all the video related applications seem to consider them just junk, even ffmpeg won't read them.
