Just been using a prog called psp movie creator which is pretty simple to use. There is a demo to download as well.

About to get back into watching videos on my saddly unused PSP again.

What's the best Vista compatible avi/XViD conversion tool these days?

Mr Ono, I might be able to help you out but I can't remember the software I use until I get home tonight.

I'll MSN you with the answer!

I just know one is much faster than the other one yet the slower one does .srt subtitles so it's great for Japanese anime/TV drama's...

I still use PSPVideo9, takes about 25 minutes to convert a 45 minute show, top notch quality conversion though.

after digging out my psp I decided to try putting some movies on it,having probs getting to see it though
Im using PSPvideo9 to convert,I've got a 4gb mem card I've followed the guide to setting up a folder for it (mp_root etc) but when I drop my video file in there it still comes up a 'no videos'
            any ideas please?
            cheers

Inside mp_root folder there are two sub-folders, you need to put the files in the MNV....... one (forget it's name exactly).

Ah right so mp_root then the 100MNV01 then another folder?
Most of the guides just mention the 2 above.
                thanks for the response

Just plonk the .mp4 and thumbnail files in the 100MNV01 folder and you'll be sorted.

You've not renamed the files or anything have you ? and the .thm filename matches the .mp4 one exactly, can't think why it's not working.

Will have a look at the exact folder structure later on, it must be 100% right or it won't find the videos.

The only renaming I did was at the start of the encode, just took out some of the crap that was on the file name (just to keep it short)

You don't need to do all that faffing around with certain file names beyond a certain firmware (3.30 I think, but I'm not entirely sure). On more recent ones you just need to create a folder called 'VIDEO' on the root of the Memory Stick, into which you just drop the videos with whatever name you want.

Thumbnails are easier as well - just make it a JPEG image (no need to rename it as a THM) at 160x120 resolution with the same file name as the MP4 file. So I have Clerks II on my PSP at the moment and for that I have 'Clerks II.MP4' and 'Clerks II.jpg' in that folder. The name of the video in the XMB is taken from that as well, so there's none of the messing around with setting custom video name tokens.

I don't know why it wasn't that easy from the start. Using video on the PSP was so full of caveats for the longest time.

                            thanks for the info guys
The only thing I can see getting in the way is that it's old firmware,it is one of the very 1st japanese released PSP and I think the last 'new' game that forced me to upgrade firmware was maybe wipeout.
Should I look for a newer update?
                            cheers
