That's good, at least the subs are fine. Sure one of the vob(mpg2) converters will work....

Yeah, strange that iPSP crashes. I've a load of converters/encoders/
command line muxers etc. Never had one crash, error etc. Funny, eh.
I'll stick to those. It's probably something stupid clashing....

    Good luck..

Left iPSP running overnight on the second pass and woke up just now to find... a big fat error and it'd crashed. Bollocks.

Still, I'll give the other method a try instead.

Because pal video footage is not meant to be 29.something, it's meant to be 25fps. So I have no problem with any of my ntsc dvds but my pal ones still won't play properly.

I have converted both PAL and NTSC without any problems at 29fps

Ask your question and wait for the answer, don't just post the same question again.

iPSP is a bit weird... just converted an episode of 24 with it and it didn't crash, but then decided to quit itself when I tried to copy it over to the PSP (meaning I had to find the file and copy it myself). Plays fine, although it's squashed 16:9 into 4:3... might have a play and see if I can fix that.

EDIT - wonderboy. Download VirtualDub (because DVD2AVI looked a bit flaky) and... well, I haven't got a clue what to do. I thought I was relatively technical minded but I can't see which option will do what I want. Any chance of a PM telling me the process of changing this VOB into an AVI? Once that's done, it's back to following your instructions on page 26...

                      @plaver

Yeah I've also converted pal at 29fpstoo but I notice the stutter that occurs as a result and it bugs me. Maybe it's because I work with visuals for a living but running pal at 29fps just looks wrong to me.

                          Hey martTM.

It's VirtualDubMod that can convert vob/mpeg2 -> avi. Works great the
only drawback is, like i said. You have to take each converted avi and
join them to make one file. Then add subs...

chizoofmetal. What files are you converting ? If you have installed
quicktime, xvid etc. You shouldn't have any trouble. Are you using the
transcoding.ini that came with 3GP ? Or if you changed the ini file, check
you haven't made an error, editing. If you are using the default ini in
3GP. Then it must be the file your trying to convert...

I managed to encode subs as part of the mp4 stream. Using the proper
mp4 standard, the file is a seperate text file (ttxt it's called). It works
fine in windows. Though because you have to make the file compatibale
with the PSP. Using either 3GP ini's or psprez. It kind of messes the file up.

It's a shame, it messes up. It would be a lot cleaner than having to encode
a entire film to overlay the subs, eh....

A little bit clearer, guide for VirtaulDubMod. It pretty straight forward
                              enough...

Run VirtualDubMod. Open the Vob file, select the audio stream. Take a
note of the stream, if you need to do more than one vob. Might take a
                              little while scanning the stream....

Now goto (toolbar) Video-Full Proccessing. Video-> Compression. Select

use Chroma motion, ok. back to main xvid cofiguration options. Select
more, to the right of Profile @ level. De-select B-VOPs. Or any other

wonderboy, to be brief, following on from your instructions above do I stick that avi into 3gp and out pops a psp compatible mp4 file? And that's the method I should employ to convert a DVD film to PSP mp4 file?

                                If so, easy as pie
