you need to upload a replay with all time submissions for them to count, it's not as much hassle as it sounds, honestly.

has absolutely loads of times for GTR (upto the 1000 limit for Barcelona GT) eek. However last time I checked the top times were generally faster over at hotlaps.de

I take it that it always saves your hotlap as a replay, automatically?

            EDIT: Cretinous question, ignore.

I just tried to look at my Barcelona 'Hot Lap' and ... either I need to set it up better or it's not very intelligent. It's got my warm up lap, not my hot lap!!! Who wants to see that?? The replay runs out too soon.

it will only save your best lap (one lap) (you got back to garage then click on cross in bottom left corner to quit) you will then see it "Saving Hotlap" in middle of screen for second or two - there is a option to turn off "Save Hotlap" but it's on by default unless you've unticked it.
One thing to note though, never quit just after crossing the finish line, it then doesn't save hot lap properly, give it at least 10 seconds

just thought, are you setting the best lap times in Open Practice ??

The 1.45 was in the first session of a race weekend. I figured it would automatically save that one seeing as it was the best one? But it hasn't, it's saved me leaving the garage then having a terrible warm up lap. Do I have to be quite astute and quit and save when I think I've done a good lap so it is sure to save it? How do I know it won't then get overwritten?

Sorry for all this, just finding it a bit confusing.

Like I say I've only saved hot laps via Free Practice not sure how it works in championship mode say.

Can;t believe the difference those Omega drivers have made, have whacked everything up high detail and barely a judder! Thanks a million!

What's the best way to start out with this in your opinion guys? I've got it installed and the steering wheel setup, should I just hop straight in at the deep end with the full sim mode and practice a single track with a single car?

I did, however played demo quite a bit, give arcade a try for few laps (less easier to spin car etc etc) then decide from there. The Function keys (1 to 8 ) alter many settings mid lap/race if needs be - any changes are posted on screen and can be done whilst game is paused which is mighty handy), start with TCS on high to start with a tone it down once you get more comfortable with the handling etc.
Also suggest you try a NGT car first, GT ones are quite a bit more powerful and a handful to control.

Good luck and enjoy a great game.

I recommend starting on the hardest possible settings. Get used to that and the other modes feel like Mario Kart

Wow, what a game. Initial problems are that the braking is taking a while to get used to as I'm thinking F1 not GT so am braking far too late. And the 996 I'm using feels like its understeering but that's just because I'm going into the bends far too fast.

Its amazing how well the steering is weighted and how the cars feel to drive.

embarresses GT4 in every way really doesn't it. Certainly set the standard for future driving games.

I've just got into this really... playing with a decent joystick at the moment, but I'm hoping to get a decent wheel sooner rather than later.

Up until now I've been just time trialing (which is what I really enjoy about racing games, it has to be said), and playing small races, but this evening I decided to give it a go with a big 28-runner event.

My god does that framerate plummet... heh. I'm running a 3000+XP and a GT6800. It drops to around 15-20fps when you're sitting at the back of the grid. I guess this means I'll have to play properly and qualify at the start of the races.

                                Or get a new processor.

What are the chances of me being able to accidently tip a cup of coffee into my computer and get a better one out of it, I wonder...
