Guys the new range panasonics are coming out next week up here

The TX32LXD60 looks like the one im going to get, its got twin HDMI and all sorts of things

My one problem, panasonic in their wisdom have neglected giving it a PC input, what i wanted to ask is this

My current CRT telly takes a signal from my geforce card via svideo at a max rez of 800x600, im wondering if i was to get this telly would it be ok to run my pc through svideo to it at a higher res like 1024x768 and would the quality be ok or would it be pants?

Nope, S-Video can't show images that clear. The highest it can give you is Interlaced PAL (576 lines).

So just because your computer's set to 1024x768 doesn't mean you're getting that. The way to go is to use one of the HDMI inputs to feed a 1280 x 720 (I think that's 720p res) using a DVI to HDMI adapter or cable.

Oh i didnt know about these! That would work a treat coz my new pc comes with dual DVI, can i just run the DVI to the monitor and then the other DVI to the HDMI all the time?

            Cheers m8

The "60" is not designed with PC use in mind. DVI > HDMI will work, but you will have overscan. This can be corrected with either nVidia or ATi's drivers, but will not be suitable for desktop use/web browsing. It is perfect for watching video, however.

If you want "proper" PC connectivity, you'll have to buy the "600" which will have a VGA input for 1:1 mapping. (HDMI will be scaled)

Hmmmm I was mostly planning on using it for watching video, as my pc comes with a 20" widescreen monitor for the web and things

I would possibly use the telly for playing games as well but any normal "PC" stuff i would use the pc monitor

Panasonic arent aware of the 600 coming with PC Input when i phoned em today

180 degree viewing angle would suggest the screen is curved as everyone knows 180 is a straight line....

Apparently the 60/600 series isn't as good as the older 500 series according to a few people on avforums. The lx60 and lx500 are about the same price too I think, so you might be better off getting the older lx500 set, with the VGA connection.

Or because you can't use the standard controls?

I've still not seen anywhere have the 32lxd500 for less than ?1500, while the 32ldx60 is between ?1200 and ?1300, depending on where you buy it. Plus, that second HDMI is rather a useful thing to have.
