It was my understanding that film content was already running "natively" with the 100/120Hz mode enabled, as 120 is a multiple of 24?
I'm pretty sure I remember it doing 72/75Hz over VGA, but it was a long time ago that I checked it. I doubt the set will accept a 1080p/24 signal, but it may accept 48/72. (or be converting to 120 anyway)
As for no sets supporting 1080p/24, Pioneer have just announced a new model, the PDP-607XD that does: http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/products...7XD/index.html
Now that I've used the set for a few hundred hours, I've done a full recalibration on it, using my PS3 as a source via HDMI. (I figured using a digital connection would be more accuracte) The settings I've ended up with are quite different now that the run-in process is finished. (the CCFL is outputting far less blue now, which is a good thing)
For 100cd/m2 (the setting I prefer for viewing in a dark room) backlight should be at 1. The rest is as follows:- Contrast: 100
Brightness: 64
Colour: 41
Tint: 0
Sharpness: -50
Black Stretch: Off
MPEG NR: Off
DNR: Off
Colour Temperature: Normal
Colour Management: On
Red: 0 -1
Green: 0 -1
Blue: 0 0
Active Backlight Control: Off
Cinema Mode: On
Active Vision M100: On (though I prefer it off for games)

The latest AV Forums hardware podcast has a very interesting interview with a Pioneer UK guy where he talks about 24fps support. Could certainly be a factor in deciding my next upgrade, but I'll hold off until Pioneers 8G plasmas arrive late this year, as they are apparently as good as SED/OLED panels and a quantum leap over current plasma and LCD.

On paper they are, and if you've got a fairly recent HDTV (as you do) I would be waiting for one if you plan to upgrade, as they're getting quite close to being released now (next year if everything goes to plan) and I hear "Plasma 2.0" could be released as soon as this summer.
I'm not sure I would say the same to someone looking to buy their first HDTV though, as the current sets are, in my opinion, a big step up over CRTs anyway. It really depends on how soon you can/will want to upgrade, and what matters to you in terms of image quality.
I've not tested whether the WLT68's will do 1080p24 as I can't be bothered messing about with Powerstrip on my laptop and nothing else I have will do it yet. (could be coming in a future PS3 update though I guess) As I said, I believe they are running in 24p with films when 120Hz is activated.

You probably know what I'm going to say to that
Sony unless there is a SIGNIFICANT price difference. They give you more control over the picture.

Well the offputting thing is the Sony one is in a mank grey colour, i love the blackness of the Samsung one! The price difference is about £100, which im not too bothered about, i want the best for my price range after all.
The only reason i've considered scrapping the samsung as every sky hd ad i've seen has banged on about Sony Bravia

Have you looked at the Toshiba 32WLT66 (or 37WLT66) as they can be had for a steal.
What is your budget?

Well I've got a feeling that that Model of Sony is one of the cheaper ones (Can be had in sainsbury's etc for £600) I'm not sure if that is a good thing to be honest.
For £800 you can get the Fantastic 32WLT68

It is one of the best HD-Ready LCDs on the market at the mo, and at that price you can't go wrong.
I have that said as do numerous other people on here, read through the pages for it's gushing praise.
Its also in that Piano black finish that the samsung has, so it looks nice on the outside too.
