It probably does, just check in the manual of your TV and it should list the supported resolutions.

You want 1280*720 or 1280*768 or even 1360*768

        Hi guys

Am just about to take the plunge and purchase an LCD.

I have settled on one of the below, but wanted to know what the big difference between the two is.

My budget is ?500, but I wanted to know how much more I would be getting for the additional ?80 I would spend on the second tv.

        TV1 (Samsung 32" LE32R87BDX):
Cashback from over 400 brands all on one platform. Shop with Rakuten & stack offers with discounts, voucher codes and cashback for great savings at top brands.

        TV2(Samsung 32" LE32T51B )
Cashback from over 400 brands all on one platform. Shop with Rakuten & stack offers with discounts, voucher codes and cashback for great savings at top brands.

The R87 is a significantly better display - I don't know why the T51B is £80 more, or even listed, as it's a couple of years old now.

I just got a cheap Hannspree HDTV, the picture's really bright

I played Shenmue via RF on it last night, looked great.

Screen burn on modern plasmas is almost non existent now. Any new plasma worth it's salt will not be vunerable to this problem.

                    Andrew: Thanks for that mate.

                    Saved me ?80!

Cheers. I'm tempted to up-size screen wise (perhaps to a 50" screen from my current 37" Tosh LCD), and I'm seeing looking at plasmas for comparison.

looking at buying a 1080p set in the next couple of weeks - had my eye on a few but would like to know what comes highly recommended by the ntsc-uk crew

not bothered whether its lcd/plasma etc - looking at anything bigger than 46" and price isn't really an issue yet

My recommendation would be to either forget about 1080p right now and go for the Pioneer 508XD (I would also have recommended the Sony D3000, but they only go up to 40") or to wait a few months for the 1080p Pioneers / BRAVIAs.

There are no 1080p sets out there just now that do everything "right" - they either don't have 100/120Hz if they're an LCD, 1080p24 support, or have some other problem.

So far, it looks like the Pioneers are doing most things right, and have noticeably better blacks than any other flat panel.

Have any decent 1080p sets come into the 26"/32" range yet? Size is an issue because I'm thinking about upgrading myself at some point over the next year.

I'm pretty sure the only 1080p native 32" set is a Sharp, and it's not available in the UK. (I'm also not a fan of Sharp TVs)

At 32" unless you're planning on using it on a desk as a monitor, there's no point in 1080p.

I'm tempted by a Pioneer 508XD, really tempted. I've been following the crazy-long thread over at AV Forums, and they sound like they are great. Pricey, but great.

I'm that not bothered about 1080p native res as I'll use it for SD (Freeview, DVD) or 720p (360 or PS3 -if I get one- games) the vast majority of the time. I think the 508XD is expensive enough as it is (around ?2500), and I've read that the 1080p model is likely to be a grand more.
