Anyone be kind enough to recommend me a decent website to buy a sony x series lcd tv, pricerunner seems a minefield , a lot of companies say they have them, but im concerned about trusting them with a nearly ?3000 item, Dell are the most reputable company, ie worldwide rep, anyone get any recommendations, thanks .

so i take it the wlt68 does not support 1:1 pixel mapping over vga. You are right guys this tv is selling for around ?620 which is cheaper for what sounds like a good set.

thanks to all the advice from various members..

You can get 1:1 mapping, just not at native resolution. The max it goes to is 1280x768 which can be bordered (1:1) or stretched out with almost no visible drop in quality.

I have done some more research and have looked into the 720p vs 1080p debate. It must be said that when comparing the two side by side on a 32 incher they look identical to me.

With that said, The new Sony J5000 range (D3000 in Euroland) has caught my eye as it has Sony's 'Motionflow' tech or 120hz (100hz in Euroland) interpolation processing.

What is the general consensus on TVs with 120/100hz tech? I compared two Sony 32inch panels side by side, one with Motionflow and the other without and it made a noticeable difference to me in terms of smoothness. It was a bit like comparing a racing game at 30fps and then at 60fps. Is there a downside to such processing? The price difference between the two TVs is about 50GBP so it's a no brainer really as you can turn it off if you don't like the effect.

120Hz generally does a good job of improving response time, though I haven't seen Sony's implementation of it. Toshiba's is very good, with little artefacting, and none of the "speed up" effect that some TVs have with it.

I hear Panasonic's implementation isn't all that good, and causes artefacts around the edges of almost everything that moves, along with making things look like they're on fast-forward. Not sure about artefacting, but Samsung's has the fast-forward look too.

That Fast forward effect is vile, it makes things look really really odd.
I would probably smash my TV if it did that too stuff, there is a Sony TV with it in the lobby of my building and it somehow makes Lost look like a Childrens drama, it is really weird.

I hate that "turn film into video" look.

Do you know the stupidest thing? A lot of British shows are recorded on consumer-level Video equipment, which they then deinterlace horribly to try and fake the slower film look. It looks crap and obviously faked because everything is all jaggy and stair stepped. Now we have TVs that try and turn it back into full-fluidity video, why not just leave it that way to start with!

Can anyone recommend me an HDTV?

Ideally looking to spend £500 tops, but I want to get something decent as I'm getting fed up of going budget all the time.

                  Ideally it should be:
                  -26"
-Be compatable with PAL 360 (all the cables etc), PAL PS3 and a US Wii. Not sure if this needs to be mentioned as I'm pretty clueless with TVs but just in case I figured I should anyway.
-Able to be used as a PC monitor (not sure about this, depends if this really limits the amount of available TVs or not)
-PS3 (when I can afford one) will be used as a blueray player, until then it's just normal DVDs.

Don't think I've forgotten any vital info but if I have then sorry. Thanks in advance for any advice

Is there much to consider these days in the ways of CRT TV's that accept 480p component and can actually display as 480p?

Hi, my first post in ages. Just got a 42" Lowe Plasma TV which looks lovely and works great with my 360.

However, I've noticed films and tv look like they've been recorded on a cheap handheld home movie camera. Reading a lot of the above posts I'm really confused about the cause. I've got Sky+ and a standard DVD running through SCART and I was wondering if the cause was the fact the sources aren't HD ones?

All seems a bit odd given that the TV cost about ?4k.

There should be an option in there somewhere to turn off some sort of Motion system - look in the menus in look out for smart-ass tech-sounding names, and turn 'em off.

The Lowe one is freaking hideous, I saw it running Fast and the Furious in a shop and it looked like an episode of top gear, freaky.

I think it is called DMI on the loewe models, turn that bitch off.
