Some 1.3 amps will pass though 3D according to the web, a shame as 1.3 cable can do it @720p. Depends on amp software I suppose. Lots of different info on the web but my customers have had success with our amps. Pot luck I guess.

I currently have a Onkyo TX-SR606 what would a suitable upgrade be to go with a G30?

Even if you have a HDMI 1.4 blu ray you can drop the res to 720p for a 1.3 amp. Not sure why Lyris's amp was not passing through the image. Video processing on amp all switched off? 1.3 cable used?
Thats a relief, I love my SE Yamaha AX863 and wouldnt change it for the world anyway :P

Maybe PS3 games and Sky work because they are not native 1080p?

                Hey guys,

I've already sent Lyris a PM but I thought I'd throw it out here as well.

I'm looking to buy a 22-24 monitor purely for playing xbox360.

Basically my budgets around ?200 and I'm looking for something with these requirements

                1920x1080 res
VGA input (what I'll need to use now)
HDMI input (what I'll use if I get a new 360)
                Low input lag
                2ms

I use Astro A40's for sound so I'm not bothered about speakers

So far i've been looking at these

                Samsung P2450H
                Acer H233H
                Asus VH236H
                Asus VG236H
                Samsung SyncMaster PX2370
                Asus ML248H

Does anyone have any good suggestions when it comes to using a monitor?

                Many thanks

                Tommy

I have an older Samsung SyncMaster, it's been great except it had DVI but no HDMI, response time is claimed to be 2ms. I overpaid because I needed it fast so I went to PC World and got completely ripped off. There's some good prices I've seen online recently.

                  Lyris would obviously know more.

Had a bad experience with an Acer monitor, I still need to get it fixed (Acer sent it back and same fault returned soon after), might need to ask on here.

edit-Overclockers were doing some large screen monitors for a very good price, I've never heard of the brand but they had good reviews.

With a 2ms response time you'll be looking at a TN panel. It's unlikely that one could be had with an HDMI connection, so you'll probably need a DVI>HDMI cable for the 360. Bear in mind that the panel's response time has nothing to do with input lag, which many reviewers overlook during testing. Speedlolita had a rather nice-looking TN panel here, the Asus VW246H. Might be worth trying to find one second-hand, as it has an HDMI input too.

Its a shame you cant stretch to this for either size or price - http://www.avforums.com/review/Panas...D--Review.html

The reviewer, Mark Hodgkinson, states for gaming: Speaking of game performance and the TX-L37DT30B positively excelled in this area. Bringing up my trusty Everybody's Golf power bar to get an initial feel for input lag revealed the DT30B to be a very responsive display indeed - I literally could not detect even the merest hint of latency between controller input to on-screen response and it felt very satisfying.

The DT30B was so reponsive, in fact, it's causing me to revisit my input lag testing methodologies. What I can tell you is that the lag is under one frame at 60fps, i.e. less than 16ms and probably closer to 10ms. I will update this review with an actual averaged figure but the reality is, all but the absolute hardcore tournament gamer will be very well catered for in the DT30B and it comes very highly recommended in this area.

Thanks for all the replies guys. That's a bit of a big stretch though bash from 200 to 1100!! I'll take a look at the Asus as well cheers Decider. Will keep you all updated as to which one I get as I'm now looking at the AVForums SKR forums and MLG forums to find out what the FPS and Streetfighter crowd are all using.

I think I might have found a winner.

Does anyone have an experience with this?

                          http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-GD245HQ.../dp/B00322VJC6

It's a 3D monitor which I'm not bothered about but the fact it has 120hz refresh rate means it'll smooth out everything in the 2D realm.

TVs aren't always a good idea to replace computer monitors. They tend to be unable to reproduce full colour resolution from a 4:4:4 source like a PC or console - so in other words, the coloured "layer" that goes over the brightness information is only at half-precision. For example, if you were to go into Paint or Photoshop and draw a blue background, and put a single one pixel of red on top of it, on a TV that couldn't reproduce full colour resolution, you'd see a purplish dot instead.

For gaming and other video material, this limitation isn't really an issue. But it would look quite unsightly if you were using the screen with your Windows or Mac desktop programs.

                              Hey Guys,

I've just been offered one of these Dell Alienware OptX AW2310 LCD 23" 3D Full HD Monitor for a very good price but before I drop the bomb I want to know one simple question.

Will the 120hz refresh rate work with the Xbox 360. I know the 360 gives out 60Hz and it's the monitor which then upscales it to 120hz for added extra smoothness but does it do this via HDMI or DVI and is is possible to connect the 360 up to DVI if this is the case?

                              Please and thank you

                              Tommy

I guess it upHz's it! Panasonic tout 600Hz on their plasma's yet I do not know of a 600Hz source. So the extra Hz must be generated by the display.
