Yeah, that's what I use. If there are tough stains, I use a bit of warm water, and then one of those special textured cloths that avoid leaving streaks.
With that said, I don't think there's any way to clean some gloss black surfaces without scratching them. Panasonic this year made the REMOTES out of this stupid finish. This is my brand new ST50 remote after being used for about 5 minutes:
I guess it's good they got the displays so outstandingly good this year, I can forgive them for the remote design snafu:

Ok. My latest accidental acquisition.
A panasonic th-37pv500b
My Dad was getting rid of it because it wasn't digital. He was going to pay someone ?9 to take it away, so I took it away for free!
Does anyone have any insight into this model? I think it is 720p only, Dreamcast through VGA looks good though.
Can't decide whether it is worth keeping or selling (for probably quite a small amount!)
Any help would be appreciated, Lyris, I'm probably asking you here!

The BD player can be region hacked (for BD and DVD) for a small fee (PM me for the hookup). The quality of the BD player is perfect. The offer for the free player runs out the end of this month.

It's a good idea to baby them for the first 100 hours, when they are most suceptible to stubborn retention (or possibly even permanent burn).

I decided to take the plunge today - got Panasonic Store to do some matching of offers, and they let me upgrade the now matched-free blu ray player to the 220 (so it has wifi) for ?40. All in it cost ?1025 for the 42ST50, wifi BD player, 2 pairs 3D glasses and 5 year warranty. Not a bad deal i thought. the BD player is going in the bedroom so the wifi was a useful extra
it arrives next week, but am going to take it easy on the gaming front for a while, dont want to take too many risks with it to start with.

Scratched screen
Bloody kids!
My 2 year old (nearly 3 so he knows he was being naughty) has scratched my 46" Samsung LCD TV. He did it with a toy knife from his kitchen set. It's about 8cm long from the middle to the bottom of the screen.
We can't afford to buy a new one at the moment because we're moving house and have just set on our first mortgage.
It's only a couple of years old, the Missus can't really see it but I can see it on white HD images. It stairs as me saying "you know I'm here and there's nothing you can do about it" and I can't enjoy using it anymore.
Any advice on shifting it? It's quite deep and you can feel it when you run your finger across it.

You could try polishing it, but nothing will return it to its original state. With kids around, I'd wall-mount your next screen where they can't reach.
If it makes you feel any better, someone managed to get blue ball point marker on my 123" projection screen. Not a problem, we'll just ship another in from the US. Only about $1000 all in, pocket change, right?
