Anyone got the phillips 9830 yet ? Really like the look of this TV in either 32 or 37" form, but really wonder if it is worth the substantially extra amount over the Samsungs that seem so popular around here and the rest of the interweb.

Bought my new tv yesterday - Toshiba 37wlt58 ... lovely screen and this comes with 2 HDMI slots, VGA, 3 Scarts (2 are RGB), component, composite *spit* and s-video.
Running dvds via component in 720p and 1080i - colours are ****ing stunning in both ... xbox I have running through component and it looks lush, same with gc and ps2
the tv comes with freeview - and the freeview channels are so ****ing clear, the colours are superb (as you can tell i am pleased with my new toy)
same time i bought this, my uncle bought a Sony Bravia 32" - lovely lovely tv. ran some dvds on it (720p and 1080i via hdmi) and the colours are so ****ing crisp ... gonna give a console a blast through it see how it copes with that
pictures to follow when i sort my setup out properly

Anybody here got one of these?

If so is it any good? (response time and so on)
I was going to get the Samsung, but i cant find anywhere that has them in stock (John Lewis just told me ill have a three week+ wait) and all the online retailers seem to out of them as well. I need a decent HDTV before the 360 gets here.

Also, any chance of trying a retro console on the Bravia (N64/Snes etc.)

Also, any opinions on Komplett? Not being UK-based is slightly worrying. I don't want a dodgy European TV! edit...though apparently they do have a UK office!
Need to look around, I think the LP1R is an older model or something as the LX2R is the one everyones talking about!
I'm 90% sure I'm ordering the LX2R tomorrow from Komplett, the 26" version though.

It's between that, and Sammy and the LG for me. Was originally going for Samsung but since sorta changed my mind and not been able to decide. Play.com have the vanilla 26" Sammy and Freeview 32" in stock now btw! Were out of stock yesterday too so you might want to still pick that up if your interested. I'm now between ordering the 26" there and paying an extra £100 for the LG on Komplett. Really unsure now...
Need help to decide. I want to order by tomorrow!

I'm in\was in exactly the same position, and to be honest my decision was made purely because the LG was easier to get hold of. I didn't want to go through what you experienced in the last few weeks basically.
In the end I figured I couldn't really go wrong, both the LG and Sammy seem to be great TV's so just went with what was available.
I'm hoping to have mine on Friday...fingers crossed(ordered from Komplett, they seem to have stock!).
By the way, I called around a few places earlier today, and despite giving up on most, I did get through to Empire Direct who are sold out of the LG until near Christmas, and don't know when they'll get the Sammy. 247 electrical (strangely only open 10 till 4) won't get the Sammy until mid-december but could not say about the LG.Last edited by PeteJ; 14-11-2005, 21:25.
