Enjoy it m8, wish I could commit that much to a TV atm. Was looking to get the 43XDE but decided on the new 40" Samsung in the end, which I'm still waiting for

Connected my Xbrick to my telly using the Official Hidef Cable, but the quality isnt that too different from RGB. Am I doing something wrong?

Ive selected all the options, 480, 720 and 1080i in the XB dash, and dont know what else there is to do.

        Any ideas?

On the dashboard hold L+R and click in both thum sticks. This'll set the dashboard to 480p and you should notice the difference as it switches. As for games they should automatially be in 480p and will be noticeably sharper. If you want to see some super crisp 720p action you could try something like soul Calibur 2 or enter the matrix.

Reading to many posts similar to this now I hope I have not wasted my money stepping upto HD. Was expecting a level of clarity far higher than that which I currently get through RGB on my TV, which has always had an exceptional RGB picture !

I always thought there was a massive difference in quality between 480p and RGB. Just turn off 480p to see a new meaning to the word blurry

Does the dash only display at 480p then, not 720p ?

I connected Forza using the HD Cable on one Xbrick, and on my other Xbrick using RGB. Then did a PIP with both screens side-by-side and they were roughly the same quality.

Also tried out Panzer Dragoon Orta using the HD cable, and it was so jaggy.

Also tried out KillBill using the XB Dvd player, and it was exactly the same as when using an RGB cable.

There must be something Im doing wrong for it to be like this.

and Boris whats up with the LargoWinch avatar?

It depends wholly on the quality of the deinterlacer.

If people use dedicated deinterlacers like the X-RGB2 or iScan, the different can be not worth mentioning. TV's just tend to come with deinterlacers which aren't designed for game content.

You obviously have no Idea on what "RGB" actually is...

It all depends on how they player/console transmits it's data and how the TV interprets it.

                            VGA is RGB.
And it's Crystal Clear because 90% of VGA monitors aren't ****.

                            Sadly 90% of TVs are.
                            Infact 480p RGB IS VGA.

Although in addition to what I just said, interlaced 15Khz RGB will look just like a true 31.1Khz 480p RGB signal if it's deinterlaced correctly, although a lot of digital De-interlacers just interpolate the image fields together rather than actually doing it properly.

The reason Xbox games look Jaggier in progressive is because the Xbox isn't filtering the image.
When the Xbox is outputting an interlaced signal it "anti-flicker" filters the image (by averaging the horizontal lines together to make thin lines appear thicker to stop interlaced displays from making HUDs flicker etc) although it doesn't do it very well and the image still flickers and looks as blurry as hell to boot. =)

I actually meant between 480p and 480i, I was getting my words muddled as I typed
