Do you think HDMI switch boxes will become more common? Most TVs have 1 HDMI port and I'm gonna be using 1 straight away with the Oppo. Then of course Sky HD and PS3 will take another 2. I'm just wondering if I should let the amount of HDMI ports on the TV sway any decision I might make.

It's worth paying more for an extra HDMI, but not significantly. I wouldn't place it as a priority - I firmly believe VGA or DVI-I should be the thing that sways decision for a gamer.
I reckon when HDMI deviced become more mainstream, more manufacturers will be making them. Right now, it's only companies like Gefen making them for the specialists, which is why they are so expensive.

If it looks good to you, go right ahead. It's a projection system rather than a direct thing, so you'll want to keep the light levels low in your viewing environment, and watch it straight-on rather than at an angle. Personally, the thing gives me an almighty headache, but if you're fine then by all means buy one.

Will post pictures of my new setup later once its all tidied up.
To get to the service menu, hold Menu on both the TV and the remote for about 5 seconds. Basically, it will flash the service menu, before reverting to a password screen. You have to time it right so you get to the service menu =/ You'll see what I mean. You get the hang of it.
The TV's defaults are actually pretty close to the mark, though I'll see what my configured settings are. I personally feel the XD Engine being enabled enhanced the picture quality greatly, but some don't think it makes significant difference.
For anything using PC VGA resolutions, be sure to go to Menu->Screen and choose Auto-Config so the TV tweaks itself for the resolution. It does this automatically through DVI-D and HDMI.

Anyhoo, changed the borders and started looking around the service menu, but too afraid to mess with the other options (might mess it up)
How come it says that the screen size is a 32" when its 26"? Did this happen with you?
And any more useful things to change in the service menu?
Thanks!Last edited by HaHaUK; 07-12-2005, 19:28.

Doubt I'll see it this side of the year now.
Last time it took six weeks but this time just over three, so i'd say it must be a lot easier to get the main boards now if that is what yours needs.
The couriers that pick them up are a bit slow. Mine got picked up on a tuesday but Sontec didn't get it till the friday after.

Went for Play. The problem is that there's dead pixels littering the screen... and a cluster stuck together to the right. Was told it could be anywhere up to Feburary on return, but I thought that was just Play covering their backs, especially when I received an email saying when they'd got confirmation the collection had been picked up they'd send a new unit out.
The Samsung LE26 that I ordered is out of stock - so that may be it. Doubt it though with the way absolutely everything I try and order, buy, or do goes wrong at the minute.
I'm waiting for the inevitable when they say they won't replace the unit and I have to get on to cancelling... that'll be so much fun with the way things have been going.
