For what I'm paying I certainly can ! I truly thought lag was a thing of the past on all LCD's. Maybe I should of gone with Plasma after all

It depends wholely on the screen. I can't say there's much noticable lag to speak of on my LG.

Quite probably not. Some sets will accept component through the VGA slot, but I can't imagine the 52 copes with being fed RGB over component. Unless someone knows better, I think we'd need an expensive transcoder.

Ive decided that Im 90% going to take the plunge and buy the LG 26LX2R. Two questions for the owners of this set:

          1) How well does it handle RGB
          2) How well does it handle older consoles (SNES/N64/DC etc)

          Thanks!

Cheers mate , yeah thought the lack of vga was quite strange even my old 27" toshiba lcd im upgrading from has one .Vga want top of my wanted list just wanted hdmi for my new dvd player cant quite stretch to the 500 that has vga but the 52 is meant to be brilliant so not too upset.

I find RGB is be excellent on this set. I play my Saturn and PS2 through RGB - was so satisifed that I've really not been arsed to dig out my PS2 Component cable.

Older consoles, well the oldest I've tried is the Saturn, and that looks lovely.
You can use the DVI-I port for the Dreamcast and be treated with VGA goodness

I think it's my ownership of this set that has made me so baffled when people complain about how 'bad' SD looks on LCD screens. I've not had first hand experience with the Samsungs, maybe they are just plain bad at it compared to LG's.

PS2 RGB was horrific on the Samsung when I tested it. Pixelated hell.

Gamecube was more akin to RF (still not great). I didn't try the Xbox.

The lesson is to use component and VGA if you're a Samsung user.

Thanks for that Shakey, very reassuring. Dont want to go and spend a few hundred pounds on a swanky new set which then renders all older games obsolete.

Now probabilty has been upped to 97%!

Anyone recently bought a telly from empiredirect? Do they send an invoice with the telly or seperately?

                  Thanks!

Must surely be dependent on the set.
The difference between RGB and Component on the GameCube on this set was minor at best. Technically, RGB Scart is the superior solution for interlaced content anyway, so if the Component looks superior on interlaced content, it's purely because it was not really given much effort by the manufacturers.

Well, you're using an LG, so there's obviously a difference with the Samsungs. At first I thought it might be electrical interference (with my equipment being close together), but GC outputted a poor but non-blocky picture.

I'm not worried yet. If (hopefully when) I get a replacement I'll try component and VGA (which I've used). Those are the areas I believe where the Samsung will excel in.

One solution you could try is to pick up something like an X-RGB2, run the Saturn or whatever through that and play via VGA. This should give superior results to RGB native even if it did look good, as the X-RGB2 has a dedicated scaler. I've considered this for that reason.
May be limited to 60Hz games mind.

Shakey, you played any Splinter Cells on it? How does it handle the blacks of the darkness? (Asking about SC as its the darkest game that came to mind).

                            Cheers. I'll check it out.

I've had my 4:3 set up in anticipation of HDTV problems with older hardware, so I can use RGB on it, though the room with them both in is now dominated with (relatively) gigantic displays (or should say was/will be after placing the latter in its box to be returned tomorrow).

I ordered an LG 32" around 12 yesterday, I have order confirmation e-mail but I am still waiting to have payment taken or a phone call. I found them to be excellent in all my dealings with them.
