Something isn't right then, I forgot you had one too :P

The sky box isn't being routed through a VCR is it?

and is the scart lead plugged in the TV socket on the back of the Sky box?

    Comment

maybe because the freeview is built into the tv

try a high quality rgb cable (QED ones are pretty good), make sure the sky box is turned to RGB, and make sure you are plugging it into the rgb socket

What can he do to improve the picture (if anything at all) or is it just the fact that it's a poor signal being displayed on a HD TV??

        Thanks

        Tommy
I took delivery of the same TV today and hooked mine up to my Sky+ box. The picture is perfect

Could he have a dodgy sky box / tv

Possibly, thanks for the replies guys, i'll ask he to run through the things you've mentioned and let you know tomorrow...

          Thanks again

Personally i think its interference from something, and after running the tv in for a week the thing has disappeared altogether.

Soi - lovely tv isn't it
It is probably interference. This is my first experience with component cables and I've found them (even a 40 quid one) to be really bad at picking up interference. I was noticing it on the picture output from my xbox. I've now shuffled my equipemnt aorund a little so that my xbox is further from my speaker cabling and all is fine.

As for the TV -I'm really impressed with it. I've tweaked the settings a bit (thanks to the very helpful thread in Avforums) and now Xbox, in built freeview and the signal from my freeview box all look really good.

My only downside is that my DVD player only has a scart out. The picture isn't bad at all, but I know it could be better. I'm going to experiment with XBMC as a DVD player (I've read that it can upscale and so prog scan). If not, HDMI DVD players can be bougth very cheaply it seems (but I'm reluctant to buy more new kit).

Yeh, XBMC does quite a good job of playing DVD's in 720p. I was rather impressed when I seen it, expected alot worse as my mates standard Xbox playing DVD was just plain SHODDY!

Dell provides technology solutions, services & support. Buy Laptops, Touch Screen PCs, Desktops, Servers, Storage, Monitors, Gaming & Accessories

A mate of mine bought one of these about a year ago and absolutely loves it.

?365 quid for a 26" HDTV, absolutely no reason for anyone to not go HD now....

Dixons called me today, my LG is being delivered tomorrow morning

I don't have a suitable TV stand though, bugger

For anyone interested and with a Panasonic Q, HOOK IT UP TO YOUR TELLY. I'm using crappy composite to connect it up to my TV, and the quality of the DVD is infinitely better than anything on PS2. I'd assume S-video would be better. Can't wait to try it now

that dell has a response time of 25ms

surely this will cause ghosting on the image?

my monitor is LCD and really old and has a response time like this and the ghosting is horrible

From the thread I read about xbox 360 it seem to me it is better to use vga input for HDTV. I am planning to get Panasonic TX32LXD52 as it impressed me unlike LG or Samsung.

Are there any other option worth considering for a budget up to ?1,100. Just interested to know. Ideally with VGA input and PIP (don't know how useful this is )

The Panasonic doesn't have VGA mate. I was gutted about that, otherwise I'd have probably gone for the Panny.

Sharp GA6E, GD7E, Sony Bravia S series are all good sets, as well as the LG that is getting a lot of praise around this thread as of late. All either have DVI or VGA, so they're ideal for you.

I thought so too, but from what I've seen it looks pretty similar to my Aquos 26GA5 (14ms quoted) which itself is similar to my LG RZLZ55 (8ms quoted).

Tbh I guess it's all down to the way different manufacturers measure it. I'm sure some quote 'best case scenario' and some are more truthful.

Recommend me a TV stand please guys. It needs to house a PVR, DVD player, 360, PS2 and fit a 26" LCD on top. I was going to get an Ikea Oppli but it's to wide for my liking

I'm hoping to spend ?80 or less

I just got this for my new LG.

                                Its perfect I say.

So much space for everything, easily fits my 26" LG which has side speakers and is quite wide compared to Samsungs and my two speakers beside it which is quite large too.

                                Worth checking out for ?90.
