Input lag is less of a problem now; the latest Sony W4000 series has a shockingly low amount from what I've seen. The W3000 model you linked to has a Game mode designed to reduce the lag, not sure how effective it is.

ok versus grudge match for my cash:

            Sony KDL46X4500 vs. Pioneer PDP-LX5090

I assume the Pioneer is the winner, someone confirm before I click 'buy'

            Thanks

Neither are perfect, but those deep blacks (Pioneer) really are something....

I'm looking to buy an HD telly to play the 360 via VGA and wii via component.

Can anyone reccomend a model around the £800-£1000 mark? I was looking at the Sony KDL40W4000, are LCDs a bad idea, should I be looking at plasmas?

EDIT: Also I read that the model I mentioned lacks 100hz, what does that mean?

Dont worry about the 100hz thing. My understanding is that Plasma's give a better blacks then LCD's and generally better contrast ratio. Thing is for the price I dont think you'll get good a resolution Plasma.

I loved my 40W2000 I had a while ago, and love my Pioneer LX5090 now, but its over £2k.

I'd say go with the 40W im sure it'll be a lovely telly!

I've just bought a 32w4000 after well over a year of looking out for an HDTV with some kind of big fault. Dead happy with it frankly. For gaming I think you want to avoid 100hz, as it will cause lag.

Thanks for the tips guys, I think I'll take the Sony KDL40W4000, time to scrimp and save!

I have that TV and its amazing for gaming. Cant say i have noticed the lack of 100hz in making action on screen seem smooth. Its also got a great reputation for having one of the fastet response times when gaming out there at the moment, so highly recommended. Its also not a bad looking tv when swtiched off in my opinion!

                          Good luck with the saving!

By the way, you say "£800 to £1000" bracket - the 40w4000 is £730 from richer sounds. No idea if that's the best price available, just looked there cause that's where my 32" came from. Might help the saving go a little quicker

Thanks for the price guide, I'll check them out. Want to get a few years guarantee on it too and that can sting a little!

Sorry for the "double down" post, but the tv listed at richer sounds is the Sony KDL40W4000U rather than theSony KDL40W4000 does anyone know what the difference is?
