Actually, the LE__R41/51 models have been "upgraded" to 8ms as well. It's just been measured differently; the M uses the same panel.

I've just been looking at HDTVs in my local Dixons and the Samsungs do stand out. It's the nearest thing a most of us are ever going to get to doing direct comparisons. You have to take it on faith that all the TVs were adjusted properly but the Samsungs LE32R51BD looked sharper and had better more saturated colours than anything else nearby. That included a JVC LT32DS6B. The Samsung just had an undefineable 3D quality much closer to CRTs than the flatter plastic looks of some of the other panels.
Still haven't seen a Toshiba 32WLT58 in operation though but one thing I do know I won't be buying a previous generation LCD. They had a Sony 32" LCD selling really cheap and it looked pants in comparison to anything else.

ok rang samsung today about my samsung tellie (la26r51b), and they have never even heard of this problem. They then passed me on to their technical staff, and they also have never heard of this problem, nor know of any firmware upgrade for it. Could it just be in the UK models? As Samsung Australia know Didly squat about it.

Finally managed to get the display working on my JVC via VGA at native resoltion 1368x968. Looks bloody lovely and all it took was a copy of Powerstrip and a bit of patience in tweaking with the settings.
The Gears of War X05 trailer in 720p looked breathtaking - I've updated my original post with the brief details and two (crappy) pics.

I emailed their customer support as it only appeared online earlier last week.
I asked them a few questions and apart from telling me that it's in daewoo's new DLP range
http://www.daewoo-electronics.co.uk/.../av_tv_lcd.htm
they weren't much help at all. They simply copy'd and pasted the description from their website.
I've noticed that all over DLP daewoo LCD's seem to have similar specs but the 17" isn't even on dawoo's website yet
Would this be a good HDTV set just for 360 u think?

Yeh i'm only looking at it being a bedroom set, i'm due to get my own place in 2006 so will be looking at a MUCH bigger set come then. ?300 isn't a massive loss for a bedroom LCD plus I need a new monitor for my pc anyway!
I just hope that Empire's description is correct cause it seems quite a decent spec for a ?300 LCD (From what I gather anyway).
Just a shame it's such a new set that noone knows anything about it. I want one more person who knows what they're talking about and then i'l be clicking that add to basket button!
I also just wish I knew what the response time was

The response time is listed as being 15ms, but on a set like that, I'd definintely assume that's "best case scenario" rather than an average, or worst time.
There's really no way of knowing how it will be until you actually try it; it depends on how much it bothers you really. Lyris said he had no problems returning a Samsung LCD to EmpireDirect - he just had to pay for the delivery costs, but that might be an option if it's no good? I can't imagine a 17" LCD being too expensive to send.

I realise it may have already been mentioned, but i really can't be bothered to trawl through the 47 pages of this thread, what size screen (LCD HD Ready TV) should i be looking to buy if i'm going to be viewing from a distance of approx 8 feet?
At the moment i can't make my mind up whether to buy a 32" or spend a little more and go upto 37". Is the bigger screen size going to be TOO big for my viewing distance?
