Anyone got any comments/experience with this http://www.millerbros.co.uk/?i=13BNa...bp=27m6ss&bi=0

My Samsung 23" is being sent back to Play.com after developing a permanent vertical green line within 24 hours, so am going to buy from elsewhere.

Here's a question for you wise people.

Considering that you can change the resolution of the 360 output when using a VGA cable, would it be fair to say that the best screen option for the 360 would be to go with a panel that matches the highest res? As in 1360x768 ,as you will get a 1:1 fit

I ask because I am stuck between getting a 26 inch Samsung HDTV or a 24 inch Dell monitor, but wonder if the higher res of the Dell will force the image to be streched out resulting in a drop in quality in the same way that when I run my PC panel in anything other than native, it looks ****.

Either way, I don't know so cheers.

Yeah, it would be best to use the VGA cable if you have a 1360x768 set, and make the use of 1:1 input with no external rescaling

That is, assuming the TV has decent support for consoles outputting over VGA. I have read on here that the Samsung doesn't fair too well with 360 VGA... I have no idea, someone is going to have to clarify. But the LG set i have shows a definate improvement.

As for the Dell, suppose it depends how good the Dell screen is at rescaling that specific resolution. Depends what the scaler is good at.

Shakey_Jake33, thanks for that. Maybe someone with a Samsung can let us know.

Anyhoo, changed the borders and started looking around the service menu, but too afraid to mess with the other options (might mess it up)
How come it says that the screen size is a 32" when its 26"? Did this happen with you?

And any more useful things to change in the service menu?

            Thanks!
I actually changed mine to 26" simply because I assumed that was what the default was!
There's not much else of use... you can mess with the power of the backlit and gamma, but the difference is minor at best.

              Thanks for the help Shakey.

Havent recieved my hidef wires for the consoles yet, so have been using RGB/composite for them.

I have to say that I am very, very impressed with what Iam seeing.

PS2 via composite is a little jaggy and slightly worse than my CRT, but it isnt as bad as what people say regarding LCDs. Decreased the sharpness a bit and it looked very good.

Gamecube via RGB is also very good, although had it plugged into AV2 in the beginning, it had a bit of ghosting, but nothing major.

Xbox via RGB is same/better than my CRT and am very impressed.

Freeview via standard Scart is also quite good. Although not better than my CRT, but definetly watchable.

If they look this good using inferior cables, then I cant wait for the component cables to come!

Be aware that AV2 is a non-RGB Scart socket designed for Composite/S-Video use. Crappy port that one. Use AV1

The RGB on this set does seem to be very good considering people were complaining of pixelisation and all sorts on the Samsung... find it hard to complain about RGB on here.

The set really shows it's true colours when you use the DVI/VGA and HDMI though

                        Cheers Jake, just ordered mine.

I get more impressed by Oppo support every day. The continued roll-out of new firmware from customer feedback and now this. Fair enough the black remote wasn't anything special but it did the job. Great stuff.

They're sensible. The remote is one of the main things the reviews critisised, they fixed it. The reviews also critisised the lack of 2:2 Cadence, they fixed it . Reviews also complained that the buttons on the old remote look like they should glow in the dark, but don't... so these do! They're listening, from the sounds of it.
They also seemed to have predicted a backlash of newer people getting a better remote, and are acting on that too.

More companies should follow this system, it's the best way to build company loyalty IMO.

Shakey, how do I find out what a certain source is outputting to the TV? Eg/ 50hz/60hz/480/720 etc.
