Yeah, it's not a major problem by any means (by no means talking RF/composite level of ghosting that can sometimes happen). I decided on the same thing - plug component directly into the unit.

I'll have to unpack my Component cable now =P But I'll likely get the same results as you guys.
VGA cable seems to be the way to go, although when you do get the cable, go into it considering the Component as too vibrant... cause I reckon it is.
You can actually physically SEE more over VGA, most apparent on the RR6 nighttime... stages which were difficult to navigate before now simply looks like nighttime, and I reckon that's how it's meant to me. It initally looks washed, but when you look at the colours, you see the colours are not washed.... they're just not as in-your-face bright as they were.
And as I mentioned in the other topic, using any kind of internal scaling does seem to reduce visual quality and lead to genuine washing.
Didn't like the 360 over VGA at first, but you get used to it when you realise you can actually see more than you could before.

I think VGA is actually still analogue, it's just a much more pure, direct method of sending the signal than Component (conversion from RGB to YPbPr, then back to RGB).
However, VGA is much more dependant on the cables. If your using decent quality cables, making sure they are as short as you can manage, with ferrite cores at both ends, using a switcher really doesn't make any difference.

To be fair, you can't really blame the switcher, as even when the console is directly fed, it still happens, albeit it's less noticeable.Thats the one that is on its way from PA too. Got it because everyone said there was 0% signal loss (and because of the price!).
Im going to feed the PS2, XB and GC through this, do you think that this 'blur' problem will still be evident in the last-gen consoles?

I also assume you would be picking up a VGA cable sometime in the future........

Originally posted by themanwithapcNah, I used mine for my GC and PS2 and there is no difference that I can see between feeding it direct and connecting through the switcher for these. I assume the Xbox is the same. Don't worry about it for the 360 either, it's nothing that'll give you sleepless nights. I've become pretty anal about my picture quality as of late, so now I notice practically the smallest type of shortcoming on a signal.

Also, played jsut started playing Half Life2 (XB) on Sunday, and decided to try it on 360 today, and it looks so much better! Too bad I cant transfer saves across to the 360
