      And in Base Colour Adjust:

      Colour Hue Sat Bright
      ----------------------------
      Red +6 -6 0
      Green -8 0 -9
      Blue 0 0 0
      Yellow 0 0 0
      Magenta +10 -10 0
      Cyan -10 -7 0

I lower the back light to around 15 or so when watching in low light.
Thanks I had a quick go and I think you've got the colours right. I made a note of my settings before I changed everything to match yours. iirc I lowered the contrast slightly and it gave a slightly better image (might just be my own TV's variance, or lighting etc). I also thought your brightness was a bit too low. I changed mine to 60, and it produced a lot more shadow detail without looking too bright or washed out

Impressive settings though and thanks for the colour settings. It did make a difference

Freeview can be tricky as it has much lolwer power levels than analogue TV.

Are you using a roof mounted aerial or an indoor one? If it's the latter I'd suggest moving to a roof aerial. If it's the former then you could try a booster box (available from places like Maplin) , but if that doesn't work you might need to upgrade your aerial. Any TV aerial installer should know what to do.

A hell of alot better, i was playing it through rgb scart before, im now playing through component and it itself improved it a heck of alot. the black lines are much sharper and everything else is just so sharp and vivid.

although i am using a cheapo component lead, i don't know if using an official sony one would make a difference. i will soon find out though, as ive got one winging its way to me now. i'll post my impressions as soon as ive tried it out.

my dvd player is connected via a dvi to hdmi cable and my ps2 is connected via a third party component cable.

oh the tv itself is a Toshiba 32WLT66, which was recommended by the great guy Kotatsu Neko.
