Will I be able to see this in a store? And what is the best way to see it?

Got round to buying myself a decent set of multiplugs
bought this one thanks to £50 of comet vouhers I won at work

I'm so glad I got it now as it has finally cleared up the diagonal streakey noise in dark scenes I was getting over VGA on my 360. It is gone forever!

You paid ?100 for that?! I'd put up with the streaks!!

          actually I paid £50, I just said that :P
The quality of picture is important to me, I wish I'd of bought it sooner.
Also the fact I've got like 3K of electrical equiptment plugged into a somewhat shonky electrical supply makes the purchase even more worthwhile as the powercentre has a £15k of surge protection guarantee.

Plus I can use it when I get my uber setup complete in 18 months time.

I'm surprised that got rid of them, I generally thought that stuff was marketing. Glad it's fixed.

Yeah, but what's the point of spending what, 600-2000 pounds on a TV then not spending 50 extra to fix an annoying problem...

You probably won't see it in the store because they're so brightly lit. The easiest way to spot it is to turn out the lights, and make sure the TV's been on for a few minutes so the backlight has warmed up. And go to a black screen.

So my replacement WLT68 finally arrived yesterday some 3 weeks after the courier managed to 'lose' the first but I don't really know what to make of it. It's my first HD screen and while the Xbox 360 and Sky HD look beautiful through it, standard definition material looks pretty rough compared to my old CRT and the Wii looks plain ****ing awful. I finally understand why so many folk here have been moaning about the Wii's output - it's because they're playing it on an LCD.

To conclude, I think in hindsight I regret moving up (or down as I see it) to LCD. It has too many flaws.

Mate, go check out the latest Panasonic Veira range of plasmas. I got the 37" for ?784 with pedastal and the 42" version can be had for less than a grand too! I think you'd be impressed for the price.

How does the Panny plasma handle SD material?

Not really on topic, but I've always been baffled at how SD videos look gorgeous on my TV when running from my PC, far better than they would from a dedicated external device. Surely the PC's upscaling isn't that much better than the TV''s?

The expensive graphics card in your machine would have something to do with it

Anyone got any advice for setting up the picture quality for a new LCD tv. My new sharp tv has all the usual options like contrast, brightness, sharpness, backlight and so on but im having a hard time getting a configuration that i like. Bloody nightmare are these new TV's.

Monster, do an isf calibration dvd. Although I didn't really like the settings it lead to on my plasma.

Very well. That's the main reason I went plasma in the end (as well as the ability to buy just a screen rather than something with speakers and tv tuner built in).

My advice would be to head over to avforums.com and search for a thread for your particular TV. You'll probably have to read through dozens of pages but chances are you'll eventually find a post listing your set's optimum picture settings.
