Thanks, I'll have a look tonight.

It was really freaking me out. I was watching Memento last night and I couldn't get over the way everyone moved... it was like watching Sunset Beach or something. Ruined the whole film!

I hope the option to turn it off is on there!

    Thanks again.

What do people generally think of plasmas for gaming? I know that each tech has its pros and cons.

Well I've just upgraded from a 32 inch Sony CRT and I have to say I've been a little underwhelmed after all the hype about HD gaming.

My 360 does look lovely on a bigger screen, but I think one of my main 'cons' would be the jaggies get worse in higher display modes for a lot of games.

i got the LE19R71B yesterday along with a dvi cable off ebayhttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=330134493744 now the problem is i can get it to display 1440x900 via my pc the nivdia driver does not offer it so you have to add it manually when i do that it just flashes up on the tv mode not supported, does anyone have anyidea how to get it to display at the native res?

          thanks

You'll probably have to use VGA to get native resolution on an LCD TV. (well, anything below 1080p)

Is there a decent panel around 20 inches that would double as a good everyday/gaming PC monitor and a TV for plugging in my freeview box, Gamecube and PS2?
As far as I can see, quite a few LCD TVs should be fine PC monitors, but is there something I'm missing?

I've got a 42" for gaming and everything else. I'll miss out the pros because there are a lot of them and instead tell you about the things that might put you off.

Plasmas suffer from trails when you have very bright areas next to dark areas moving swiftly across the screen. It appears as a greeny white trail that some people never notice. I can see them but it doesn't bother me. However some people hate it, so that could be you.

                  They are heavy.

If you have a bright image edge in one place for a long while, even the modern ones can retain the image slightly - on the one I've got, there's a wobble feature that moves high contrast edges around imperceptibly, but even with that on, the image will stay slightly if left long enough. This has rarely happened to me so far - only if I leave a game on with really bright areas for a long while. You'd have to be paying attention to notice it though and after a few minutes of showing other stuff, it goes away though completely. Or running the screensaver eradicates it in an instant.

I can't think of any other downsides.

I'm one of those people. On the LCDs I've owned, moving quickly in games causes a motion blur. But on the plasmas I've used, the same thing causes a weird green and purple blur! I actually *prefer* the way LCDs handle motion, which isn't something you hear every day.

I agree with you there, though I'm going to give the 8G Pioneers a chance, as it seems like they'll be a lot better in this regard. (as with everything else)

They seem much more resistant to image retention/burn-in compared to anything else out there (no-one has spotted any yet) and they keep a lot more resolution with moving objects, so perhaps it's been fixed along with that. (as those two are related to the same problem that causes it)

If it's down to the level of what you see on a CRT I could live with it anyway.

Any reccomendations for something of similer size. Also after i take this back i have no lcd to play my 360 so somewhere that does speedy delivery would be a bonus!

Well, what is it you didn't like about the picture, and how much are you looking to spend?

If you PM Filbert over at AV Forums (who works for / runs http://www.synergysav.com/) you might be able to get a Pioneer 4280 for £1800 if you're quick. He's only going to be stocking the 428s which won't be out for another couple of weeks, but was shipped one by mistake. (it's pretty much the same screen, but the 428 has additional calibration options if you plan on paying for an ISF tech to come out and set things up for you)

While I haven't seen one myself (I'm waiting for the high end ones in September) if you don't like it, I doubt you will like any flat panel, as it seems to be the new leader by quite a margin from all accounts.
