    XBOX 360 Shortages

Just received this email from play.com

    Dear Customer,

We have been informed by Microsoft that they have not produced enough Xbox 360 consoles to satisfy the demand in Europe. For this reason we regret to advise you that we are unable to guarantee the delivery of your pre-ordered console before Christmas. We are working closely with our suppliers to ensure all orders are fulfilled as close to launch date as possible. However, if you wish to cancel your pre-order please do so by visiting ?My Account? and following the instructions at Play.com.

We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause.

    Kind Regards,

    Play
I pre-ordered the console on 23rd August, anybody else in the same boat ??

Got that today, but it's the same message that's been on their site for the last two - three weeks.

I'm not sure if it's just an arse covering excerice by them until they sure of how big a slice of the 360 allocation they're going to get

Further underlines the impression Microsoft are launching too early. The 360's build up has become something of a farce in places.

The same message is on the GamePlay site. Fortunately I preordered mine on the 17th. Phew.

I went into Game last week as the shortage whispers were getting increasingly louder to make sure i get mine on the 2nd of December. I was told that as i preordered my console in August (the 16th) i am guaranteed one on release. Anyone that has preordered theirs from October onwards are basically fooked.

I pre-ordered on 26 August and received the same e-mail today.

Has anyone who ordered one from Play.com not received this e-mail?

                  Jim

I've heard that people who preordered on the first day even got the email.

I don't think Microsoft has set in stone with anyone yet how much of an allocation they'll be getting (and that's talking globally). Until they do, everyone is in the same boat

Of course, the longer you've left it to preorder the less likely it is you'll get one on day one.

Hehe, according to Gameplay's rather specific guarantee deadline time, I seem to be in the clear by a whole 10 hours!

I ordered mine from Gameplay literally about 60 secs after it appeared on their website....I must have been one of the very 1st to place an order so I'm not worried

My mate at Toys R Us has informed me that they have refunded ALL pre-orders because they are unable to guantee ANY consoles for Dec 2nd. Ive got the feeling lots of people are gonna miss out at launch my self included unfortunatly.

I thought it was 200,000 for the UK in which case it should be more than enough? can't see that being the total for the entirity of europe.
