This has all been going on for a while now, and since Microsoft haven't told retailers their exact allocation, all these 'not being able to guarantee release day demand' sites are looking stupid. Gameplay have even gone as far as putting a time on it

ps: i wonder if anyone can tell me exactly what cables you get with the premium pack? i don't need the HD cables cos i won't be getting a new tv til next year- does it still come with a decent scart lead as well?
I'm pretty sure the premium pack comes with a scart and a component cable.

The Premium Pack comes with a weird cable that has both Component connections *and* Composite connections. You will also get a Scart block thing, like with the PS2/GC/XBox.

(Note the 6 wires - The Blue/Red/Green ones are Component, the Yellow one is Composite like on todays pack-in leads, and the Red/White ones are audio)

Of course, smart people will be picking up the Official RGB Scart cable if they intend to stay with SD.

I think its inevitable there will be problems, i was just reading this on the bbc:

            http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4332170.stm

That said i think the supermarket idea might work, i know in my local Tesco they had tonnes of PSP's on release day.

even using places like dixons and comet - they had loads as well

everybody nowadays seems to go straight to a games store

feck me comet had the best deal on and PSP package - they will probably have a nice xbox360 deal as well

Totally agree with you - I cannot understand why everyone bothers to pre-order from the likes of Game/Gamestation when it was easier on launch of the PSP to walk into the likes of Comet and get a better deal. Didn't some people who pre-ordered their PSP from Game not get one for weeks after the launch?

Thats it, decided to cancel my pre-order with play.com and go with Comet. Lets hope they can guarantee stock on launch day !!

I already have Currys, Dixons and Gamestation orders. Guaranteed launch day at Currys and Dixons, I ordered one day after the cut-off at my local (tiny) Gamestation but I'm only 5th on the list. It's a bit cuntage taking up loads of preorder spots but I just want the best day 1 bundle
The others will be cancelled promptly on the day

I remember this whole thing happening with the PS2, I pre-ordered mine VERY late, nearly a month before release yet I got mine on the release date. I don't think we should worry very much to be honest, if you ARE worried then pre-order with a store like Currys etc...

(Currys been taking pre-orders a while now)

In all seriousness, the PS2 had been out a while in the US/Japan then so there was plenty of time to make more than enough machines for the UK market. Same with the PSP launch.
The 360 is launching here 10 days after the US and can't have been in production for very long. From some of the rumours floating around the UKs allocation won't be anything like the 250K talked about before. People can say that MS want to create an artificial shortage, but does it make business sense not to supply enough machines to outdo the PSPs 187K sales figure?

At any rate, most Currys/Dixons etc. still have preorders and by the looks of things Comet do too
