Can I use a UK Wii component cable with a US Wii?

Any recommendations on where to buy?

      Many thanks

Component, absolutely. It seems to be more of an international standard and in 5 years time things will be much simple when everything works via that.

If you have a component capable TV then GO FOR IT! It's the very best picture you can get.

YES. You get full speed, full screen goodness over the shoddy 17% bordered PAL versions too. This was a big reason for me getting a US Wii, as well as US GC games having 480p support and PAL ones not.

Is it a universal step-down? If so then why wouldn't it?

Sorry for being a complete retard, but can anyone help (I promise I'll back track through the posts on this thread in the mean time)

        Thankee Muchly.
I paid £125 for mine but the shipping means you end up paying the same as in the UK - around the £180 mark.

You could ask for the power adaptor to be taken out if you're getting a UK adaptor (I did, less than £10 to buy) to save on postage.

Also beware of customs. You could end up paying MORE for it if they get you. DVDboxoffice say they do all they can to get it through customs but will not mark it down as I asked them so I don't know how that will work. They also said they'd replace it if dead on arrival and would pay postage to send it back out to me (I'd have to pay to send it to them though).

Apparently VG+ will mark it down though. I got it through eBay as the fellow was happy to mark it down and VG+ had none in stock. The eBay chap also allowed me to register the warranty extension to his address and said he'd do all the replacing if I sent it back if problems arose although all p&p at my expense. If interested in him, I can link you.

Yes. They have basically the same power requirement.

you can order them on dvdboxoffice.com for 130£ + shipping but you'll have to wait for them to get some in. (2 week+ wait at the moment).

Or ask a friend in the states.

I bought mine from DVD Box Office, purchased on Thursday night and it was here the next Monday

Note that when you check out with DVDBO you get the option of paying in US or Canadian dollars, and if you select US it works out about £20-£30 cheaper in real money. Must be the exchange rates or something.

mattyd did you have to pay any customs charge and if so how much was it ?

No I didn't. DVD Box Office ship through DHL couriers so I don't know if that had anything to do with it, as the value of the contents was clearly marked on the invoice stuck to the outside of the box.

Another couple of questions re: S-Video cables:
                            • Will a Japanese S-Video cable work on a US machine? If I'm understanding what I've read correctly it will (it just won't work on a PAL machine).
                            • Where's a good place to buy one?
If anyone has one they want to sell don't be afraid to PM me!

Yep, all the cables are universal aslong as your wii supports the type of output.

ebay seems the best bet, I haven't seen a web store that does the third party ones for under a tenner.

So ANY s-video cable will work, as opposed to say RGB SCART which will only work on a PAL machine, amirite?
