Any first or third party wii svideo cable will work on a JPN or US Wii.

US can't do rgb (not sure about d-terminal)
      JPN can't do rgb
PAL can't do S-video (not sure about d-terminal)

D-Terminal is just a different connector for Analog Component Video so I'd be surprised if the Wii could even tell the difference between that and the RCA Component Cables we use.

Since the Big N were ***** about rgb and s vid you can't be sure.

Pins 14, 15 and 16 (for the three additional data lines) are only used by the D-Terminal cable so I could see them disabling full D-T support on PAL and possibly merkin ones as well.

Oh, so the pin out is different? In that case I agree, be cautious.

You caught me while my net went down. Forgot to add full D-T support in my last post.

I haven't seen anyone map out the pins d-terminal uses but I'd expect you would get a component image out but not the extra's you'd get from full support (if they had cut support out). But it's fairly pointless as anyone that would go to the effort of bringing a JPN tele out of japan wouldn't be using a PAL Wii.

The cost to me was a shade under ?180 inc. shipping, but the invoice on the outside of the box said $240-something IIRC which did not include shipping (costs between $80 - $100). If it WAS stopped by customs it ought to have been charged so I guess I just got lucky.

guys, can I just confirm there's no reason not to get this as a power supply for a US Wii?

                      RE: Wii S-Video

Just thought I'd add for future reference, that Wii S-Video is aceness if you don't have a HD / component-enabled TV. The picture is noticeably brighter and more vibrant, and so sharp I can see aliasing and jaggies where I couldn't before. I'd say it's essential if all you're using is bog-standard NTSC composite, which looks awful.

Looks like a basic third-party Wii PSU to me, so it should be fine. Just for the record, I've used both US and UK power supplies on both region machines (don't ask) and they both worked - basically it's the power supply, NOT the machine, that dictates what voltage etc it draws off the mains. The power being fed through to the machine is the same whatever region AFAIK.

Id like to thank Bort for the heads up on the VG+ Wii bundles. Id also like to thank MattyD for confirming the PSU thing.

My Pokemon bundle arrived today. It cost me ?200 including postage and took just two days to get here. I did not get charged any customs. On the front of the box it said the value was just $20 Canadian!!. I did not ask them to mark it down they did it on their own.

Im very happy now all I have to do is wait for my 3rd party psu to arrive from Amazon and my component cable to turn up from yesasia.

ps. Totally unrelated but Everybody's Golf 5 on the PS3 is easy the best game on the system. I can't keep off it and find it even more addictive than the PSP version.

                          Looks like one of these:

I?ve been looking to replace my ageing stepdown transformer which I use on my Wii. I?ve had it knocking about since I imported my first DVD player about nine years ago. Did you order one? I?d be interested to hear how they perform. I wouldn't expect it not to work for the reasons MattyD went into, but I might be somewhat dubious of investing in a cheaply manufactured PSU.

I finally managed to buy a NTSC Wii, can't wait for it to arrive! The worst part is having to pay customs however >_< hope they won't be too heavy on me.

Has anyone bought an official Nintendo power adapter?

When I imported my GBA SP I bought a UK plug from Nintendo, but it cose ?14 which was a bit steep IMO.

You can get one of those on ebay.co.uk for like 7? with shipping included. Not bad, if you consider the brick is a lot heavier than the gba's one.

I'll have to get mine on ebay.de, as our plugs here in Portugal are different than yours, but the price range is similar.
