    PS3 + Sammy LE32R41 BX - No HDMI?

I've tried to HDMI cables and two PS3s on my Sammy, and neither console nor either cable will work. Is this a thing with this model TV? That it has an HDMI port that doesn't work? Or is mine buggered? Or am I doing something wrong?

I so wanted this to be the generation where I didn't have to switch any cables at the back of my TV...someone help please!

You have to actually enable HDMI on the console first using the Composite cable (or any other standard PS cable), did you do this?

Yeah, I did that mate - it was telling me that it would switch to HDMI for thirty seconds, but then when I changed to the HDMI channel it doesn't show anything.

Anyway, we've just had a wee drama when the stepdown that the PS3 was plugged into imploded, and let out lots of smoke. Then melted. I take it stepdowns really aren't the way to go with the PS3? What sort of plug should I be using instead?

PC power lead, no stepdown required

And it definitely won't blow anything up the way my stepdown did?

Any clue as to why my stepdown blew up?

Perhaps it couldn't cope with the demand PS3 need for electricity.

Yeah...just seems unusal if the PS3 is multi-voltage. Still, I'm not an electrician so I guess I'll never know!

Well, the UK plug is working fine (only 5amp though - is this okay?) but I still can't get HDMI on. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it!

Somebody else started a thread about HDMI being knackered on their PS3 - iirc it was Tigger you should maybe PM him ? In the end he was just going to keep the machine as he couldn't be bothered returning it (component worked ok).

                    Cheers Yoshi

It can't be the PS3 though, 'cause I've tried two seperate ones with two seperate HDMI leads on my telly, and neither of them will output. It lets me select the HDMI channel though, which it doesn't when the PS3 is turned off.

Had it about three hours now and haven't played anything on it!

My R41 had a faulty HDMI socket, which I found out when I first got an HDMI DVD player, it is quite common. It just gave me a pale blue screen. I could get it to work if I held the socket in the right place.

You still had to have a cable plugged into the PS3's multi out socket before HDMI will work.
                        Kept you waiting, huh?

Ah, might have a fiddle with the socket then Boris, then get on to Sammy.

The composite cable was still plugged in matey. And now the component cable is plugged in but I'm having the same problem.
